And you reckon he could apply himself to study??? @:D
I do wonder what goes on behind the scenes with the other Pacifica boys and his family (I'm thinking his uncle in particular) when it comes to all of this. Hopefully the bloke has some guidance on getting it together from people he respects. I just dont see how he has a footy career beyond next year if he can't sort whatever his issues are, over the off season.

Call me nostradamus... and its only been what? A month? Kid gets a massive deal when imo didn't deserve it. Signs on and as a show of faith delivers nothing in return. Nada.
Welcome to this ****show for a few years more yet. Gonna be a roller-coaster. Well done all involved. World class management

I think this is a perfect example of the danger of allowing a player manager to dictate terms to a club.

For all we know (& Schu did in fact come out & say he was happy to play any position), the whole demand for 5/8th was all Tartak’s work, because obviously he gets more of a cut if Schuster is on a spine position salary.

I think Tartak’s constant pressure on the club to upgrade & extend Schuster has conflicted his loyalties & he doesn’t know which way to turn.

Add the pressure of finding himself in the media spotlight because of Tartak & Fulton’s machinations in trying to get players to the Tigers, his apparent contract renewal amount, the exodus of Tartak players to other clubs, & the general good form of his remaining fellow Tartak colleagues Saab & Olakau’atu, he must feel immense pressure to perform brilliantly every time he steps on the field.

If you try to pressure creative people, their well often dries up.

Yes, I know it’s professional sport, but unlike Saab (who only has to concentrate on kick returns & being on the end of a backline movement) & Olakau’atu (who only has to concentrate on receiving passes from DCE & busting through the line), Schuster’s expected to have the answer to everything & come up with brilliant plays every time he gets the ball.

I think his confidence is down & he’s confused & has probably lost his passion for the game under all the pressure.

I don't blame the club for locking up The Shoe initially on a handsome salary; he was the most outstanding junior of his generation and I was just one of many predicting he'd enhance Manly's chances of prolonged success. His early form was good, but not as outstanding as I had imagined. The mistake the club made was to extend his tenure, not because his form warranted it but because other clubs were interested in poaching him. This extension looks like having negative consequences for seasons to come.
The Shoe isn't the first Manly junior to deceive. It wasn't that many years ago when I was predicting Liam Knight would be a world-beater, and I was disappointed when he was punted. On this occasion the club decision-makers were correct.
It would be prudent if posters didn't use hindsight when being too critical of our club.

Why do we keep hearing $800K when it was said to be $600K. I just hope he can get some help over the summer to play the way we know he can. At his best he can be a match winner. I don't like all this media talk coming out of the club basically hanging him out to dry. That's BS but Schu has got to get his act together, no one else can do it for him.

Kinda like the Fainus. Who knows how they will handle 1st grade or the outside distractions in the west.

Gutho was the main one we let go that was a huge mistake.

He was a manly junior signed for years to come. He could have played 5/8 and fullback when Tom was down the last six years or so. We would have maybe won the comp or got to the GF in 2019 with him and even in 2021. This year we would have made the right with him at fullback.

Sitting behind my keyboard the equation actually seems simple for Schuster.

1. Train hard and get fit
2. Make your tackles,
3. Run the ball more
4. Keep things a bit more controlled when on attack.

Most of that list is simply "effort" areas. And he has three of the most professional guys in the NRL in Turbo, DCE, and Jake to mentor him and watch them each day.

So why is he having all of these problems? Is it simply that he is just lazy? Or something else?

I really hate how the media milks these situations without a real care for the individuals mental health. Just sickening when you think about it and the hypocrisy that goes with it. At the end of the day he is a kid who appears to have issues with application ( one of many) the only difference is that he is super talented ( potential) and has a lucrative contract leveraging this potential. The club needs to manage this situation and the kid is going to go through a tough time but this is necessary. No one can get paid that kind of money for what he is delivering atm. Please media pundits don’t rub his face in the dirt as this vulnerable time at the expense of his mental health to get the public’s attention. Show some decency please….
