I don't think our season will be done as such as it's only round 10, the comp's so close, gotta get through Origin and anything could happen.

The team selections and win against Penrith last week should have been a light bulb 💡 moment for the coach. It highlighted the importance of a mobile pack.

Its not just speed. Its energy, mobility and effort that our new comers be it youth or getting new opportunities bring. It rubs off on experienced and stale members and I'm looking at Jake.

Id love to see Jake start on the bench this game.

If he's truly Captain material, and I question that he is, if he has the clubs best interest at heart, he won't sulk and throw his toys out of the cot, not starting after a stint out. He'd be motivated, I'd love Jake find that impact with the ball he once had, whilst he's playing near in 80 mins and an endurance game, his games not going to change.
Could Jake win this game with a 40 min stint. Once I would have said yep, he will set the tone, poking though the line and chop blokes in half.

Jake needs competition and youth around him to re-find a younger more motivated, spirited Jurbo.

Will be an interesting insight into Seibold's thinking. Most people would not dare change that team that was so successful against the 4 times premiers last time we played. Especially when you consider we got some seriously bad calls in that 2nd half but still managed to hold them out AND run over the top of them later in the game. However I suspect that Aloiai would replace Bully who would go back to bench. Jake would replace Jazz who would go back to Hooker and Simkin would go back to the bench. Saab replaces TT2. That would be a major team overhaul after a great turnaround win. Seriously would you do that?

I know there was recently some discussion about the role of lock in current NRL, compared with the past, but I remain unsure in the current day about the difference between prop and lock. Do players such as Tino and Carrigan, and at times in the past Aloia, play any differently in those positions? I'm guessing the differences are not so great.
Prop would take 1st hit up from a kickoff. Lock may be expected to be able to pass the ball... is that it?
Jazz played effectively for 70 minutes v Penrith, and Manly needs to make use of that ability to play decent minutes as a smaller energetic middle.
Simpkin's form in that game merits another go as starting dummy half. Pity he can't play 80m (could mean Gordie gets another run as backup).

Good point, SeaEagleRock 8. For me one thing I'd expect from lock is to be a ball player, basically another 5/8. Glen Stewart* comes to mind as a great example. Now my memory isn't what it used to be (but hey, it's been fun losing a few brain cells!) but I recall JakeT being much in that mould early in his career. He still does a few run and passes but they seem so telegraphed and obvious; easy pickings for the defence. Is this just father time or also in part the coach's call on how he plays? Either way, we need better ball skills from whoever plays lock with more variation in plays.

I agree re Simpkin starting at 9 and Tevaga at least on bench.

I'd like to see Jake play less minutes, but he's starting every day for me. He's his own harshest critic and I have no doubt he will bounce back from some particularly unusually poor performances from him. While he has been in an overall decline, he was still the Blues captain last year. He's been playing poorly even by his recent standards. He's had a month off effectively to get fitter.

I think Tevaga will be on the bench, but playing long minutes. Think 20 minutes at hooker, 30 minutes at lock, or something like that. Means you only have to play Simpkin and Jake for 50-60 minutes each.

Aloiai will come in, if fit, probably starting. Brown and Bullemor for remaining bench spots, with Talau vs GCKT for the last one. There's still some doubt surrounding Saab, let's see if he's named or not. If he isn't, I'd expect GCKT.

Not looking forward to losing Tom, DCE and Haumole during Origin. That could be season defining.

The team should be unchanged from the win over the Panthers. If Jake strolls back in, Jazz goes back to 9, etc - it will be immensely disappointing.
