Wow, opens up a right centre spot. I hope T Wright blitzes the pre-season and demands a shot!
Fingers crossed it's closer to 2Walker won’t be back until Round 2 to 6 - sauce Baz.
X So Kelly & I'd say Parker to start in the centres (for potentially 6 rounds or 25% of the season)
X DCE & say Hastings or Croker in the halves
X If Turbo isn't right, Winterstein, Sironen & probably Brown in the backrow
Going to be a very tough start.
Thanks for going and taking notes. Much appreciated.OK, here goes. Tried to keep it brief and not repeat anything already reported.
SP = Scott Penn, LG = Lyall Gorman, TB = Guess who
Small crowd of around 50 people + 3 journos. Dean Ritchie and two others
Bulldog left as soon as the Pearce question was answered.
LG
Very impressive, all about community & culture and growing the membership
Happy to be contacted about anything
Short term plan to improve game day experience, big focus on schools program in 2018.
TB said we have been poor with that for 2 years
TB Pre Season Update
Aus and Kiwi guys not due back until Jan but AFB already back by his own choice
Said Fainu, Funa, Croker & Olakau’atu all very impressive
Is looking to extend Api’s contract
SP Ground Refurb
We refused to take games to Allianz so did Sharks. LG says stadium strategy is an East-West play so we and Sharks / Red V are left out.
Master plan started 3 weeks ago to be finished in Q1 CY18. We have hired the consultant who did Geelong Cats stadium upgrade
All 15 local councillors support the upgrade, first time ever
SP sees 4 stage plan with Stage 1 to cost around 30mil
Key is support of council, state and fed govt
SP Salary Cap Investigation
We have given NRL everything they asked for phones, computers etc. SP even gave his phone
Interviews all done and everything queried can be explained so sees no issues
End of Jan resolution
TB Team
Wanted to have Snake & Skivvy involved in 2017 but couldn’t be done despite a lot of effort. No more details.
Didn’t want Gutho to go but wants him back if possible. Gutho wanted fullback but Snake had 2 years left and Tom in the wing.
Hates seeing him in a Parra jersey.
Huge pressure from Green’s manager for release so took a punt as wasn’t going to resign him after 2018.
TB Pearce
Still in fight but can’t match Newcastle $$$, lots of young kids to sign down the track so will not pay overs
Have a plan B,C,D if it doesn’t come off. Mentioned Metcalf, Croker and Hastings as options.
Blacktown Workers
Paseka, Tanginoa, Sipley and Lane training the house down. Lane is only 23 and sees big potential for him.
Brad Parker may end up in back row in future.
Says we will have a strong team in 2018
Under 18
Ben Turbo now bigger than Tom, Josh Schuster and Albert Hoppa tracking very well

Green manager a scumbag by sounds of it, i reckon it either croker or hastings for 6.
Love your work NL ..... I don't agree with a lot of what you write but I like your passion and how you stir things up.You're f***ing hilarious!
Really I mean that. Your clever wit is wasted here, another absolute quality contribution.
Re: Jamil, sorry that wasn't mentioned. Thanks for going and taking notes. Much appreciated.
Wow unbelievable that Manly need to wait until the end of Jan for the salary cap investigation to be resolved. It's as though the NRL want it to drag on and on and on....
Any word on how the other Hoppa (i.e., Jamil) is going? Will he be pressing for a 1st grade spot next year and has he been cleared to play yet?
That's what Trent alluded too when talking about the pressure to release Green better to release him and move on given we have some options to replace him.Sounds like the club released Green as things were toxic, more than we have a back up 5/8.
If that was the case than kudos to the club. Green's form could have been awful if he was bitter at being forced to stay.
One thing that Trent said is that with his retention of young guys is he wants 10 year players not 2 year players. Thanks all for the insights and notes.
This all reads very well, and is very pleasing. Community connections with schools and fans are crucial to the clubs survival and entrenchment within the area (plus commitment to Brookie).
It is also very heartening to hear the words around our youth development and local juniors.
All of this gives us cause for optimism. Keep this leadership group together for 3 or 4 years, and there is a premiership to come before 2020 I reckon.
