We need a hooker who is actually a hooker. Preferably with a little NRL experience.
I can't imagine Des embarking on a long premiership campaign relying on a couple of makeshift hooker/halves to back up just one specialist hooker - who will be coming off a shoulder reconstruction.
Hooker and wing are where we need strengthening. A lot will depend on how young Hoppa comes back from his latest injury.

I think with the addition of musgrove our backs are pretty much settled. We have Parker, Taufua, Elliott hoppa, funa and Musgrove to fight out for the left side backs. Plus Schuster could potentially be a centre aswell so cant see us adding any more backs unless one of the above are moved on which would seem unlikely.
Forwards will be the same as this year with the possible addition of T rex/ Other fainu.
Definitely in need of a hooker or even 2 depending if we upgrade Docker Clay. Not sure who is out there but im sure we will get our man

Mate I know DCE can handle the defence but moving he and Hoppa Jr to our front row might not be in our best interests. I think Marty and AFB should be starting props.

Certainly is going to be some competition for not only the starting forward line up next season with full availability but bench spots as well . Outside of the starting top six, I am really a fan of young Haumole , then there are the slightly more established guys like, Paseka , Jet Ski , Waddell . Sipley , Boyle and up and comer Keppie . Very important to have depth in any case but again probably can expect some serious vying for forward position next season .

Jorge will be in the side...they didn't resign him for two more years to have him playing at Blacktown in case we get an injury

I'm hearing Simona is 1000/1 to be registered for next year so count him out.

Albert Hoppa is coming off 2 ACL injuries so I wouldn't be pinning too much of our hopes on him. He may come good, but even so, it will be a long journey back to be ready for FG.

We will have an almost identical squad to this year, minus Elgey, Perrett and a smattering of lesser talent.

Schuster will be in the top 30 and I think he is probably the biggest threat to Parker. It is highly likely that he will come through as a centre and move to the backrow as he finds his feet in the top grade.

Agree with the 26 above however add Schuster, Funa and Musgrove and drop Metcalfe and Hopoate back to the development squad. Smith to drop back to the Blacktown squad.

Woodsie, I think if Des was going to gamble on T-Rex he would have gambled in the finals this year. So much more upside to guys like Keppie, Sipley, Gauc etc

Jorge will be in the 30 next year, but not for sentimental reasons. During the off season training sessions he will have to continually pass KPI's in the following areas;

Speed over 50 metres
Catching the ball (both high and low)
Playing the ball technique

He will pass, of course, in showing a huge heart!

I feel he could be coming off the bench, as Des usually only uses his last bench player for 10 - 15 mins.

Thats right. We had available players from our top 30 so T rex was unable to be used

You may be correct ... but I think getting him registered into the 30 with a couple of weeks before the finals was the impediment .... we had other forwards available and GreenTurd was never going to grant an exception .....

.... and remember we had the greatest run of no injuries to our starting pack in the history of rugby league ..... until round 23 I think with the exception of AFB being suspended we played the same pack every week .... there was no need, or possibility he would have been elevated into the squad earlier .....

... but next year ... a cheap deal for him makes financial sense ....

T-Rex will be there... none of the above players are tossed aside by adding him. Minimal contract, plenty of experience, done deal if he behaves himself during the off season. (You would think.)

Smith was signed for 2 years and i am sure he is in the top 30.
Hoppa,metcalfe, schuster would be perfect for the development squad as they will need time to get over injuries and prove themselves in tbe reggies and after june 30 are available for nrl.
I would have either trex or perrett on base nrl salary for the top 30.

We must have been allowed to use him as we named him in our 21. If we weren't allowed then the NRL wouldn't have accepted our nominated team on the Tuesday night

Get what you are saying but we are able to name him in the reserves but can only use him if we do not have enough for players in that position from our top squad.
