I wonder if we can release him to the UK. I'd rather Fogarty / Walsh and the extra cap space.
Doubt if any S L club would be prepared to outlay any more then 300 - 350 K for him but see where you are coming from
Would give Walsh a crack at 6 irrespective if Brooksie stayed on or not
Brooks "s defence has still largely measured up this season again but attack or options has been way off in general
Maybe Fogarty ;s presence can help and a bit more go forward with a hopefully full strength pack again but definitely like the notion again of Walsh being given a go at 6 starting with the trials or seasons preparation
May even happen this season in the last few games at 6 or 7

In theory this would be good. But in practice I can’t see anyone paying full freight, then we’d also need to sign some journeyman for depth purposes, so we’d probably end up net about the same salary cap wise with a player equal or possibly even worse than brooks.

Keep him and just drop him to Reggie’s.

Im unsure how playing 2 halfbacks would work.

Im dreaming that someone like O Large' skillet is ready for 1st grade in the #6 role
Think that 27 will be more likely for Large to make his mark and if he can very hopefully have a better run with injuries but could still be thereabouts next season at being capable of i st grade standard or close to it

Quick summary of media discussing seibold this week - yes it’s chat GPT - get over it.

Got it—here’s the last 48–72 hours of Seibold chatter from the two shows, plus the George Mimis angle.

NRL 360 (past 2 days)
  • “Edgy Seibold, pressure building… but call already made.” Panel discussion framed Seibold as under the pump, yet tipped to be retained beyond this season (wording in the Fox Sports recap of the segment).
  • “He’s in a toxic environment!” A fresh clip drills into whether the DCE departure noise + club politics derailed Manly’s year.
  • Crisis-talks vibe. Another NRL 360 cut-down pushes the idea Manly were set for “crisis talks” as fan frustration boiled over.
  • Context: the heat is coming off a bleak run culminating in the Tigers loss this week.
Kenty Blitz (this week)
  • “Manly Sea Eagles leaks wrecking Seibold’s position as coach.” New Kenty Blitz upload explicitly pins the pressure to leaks undermining Seibold’s authority. (Title of the latest video/short.)
The George Mimis piece (what shows/panels are leaning on)
  • In the last week—and now getting re-aired in panel/chatters—reports say a group of Manly old boys led by Anthony Watmough, with player agent George Mimis “on side,” are pushing for Seibold to be moved on, with Matt Ballin floated as the preferred replacement.
That storyline is what Kenty’s “leaks are wrecking him” framing is tapping into.
Micro-pulls (titles/phrases on air)
  • NRL 360: “‘Edgy’ Seibold feeling heat with ‘pressure building’ but Manly coach call already made.”
  • NRL 360: “He’s in a toxic environment!” (DCE saga segment).
  • Kenty Blitz: “Manly Sea Eagles leaks wrecking Seibold’s position as coach.”

The interesting part that hasn’t been discussed here is the George Mimis piece and his play to wrestle back influence at Manly.

If he managed the Turbos, Watmough and Ballin it would make a lot of things make sense and it’s probably who the club are pointing at when they say they know where it’s coming from?

Most of the rumours that are aired come from either fan forums or player managers.

I doubt a single rumour comes from a club or player, unless it’s a very disgruntled major player in a club with a barrow to push.

Just wouldn"t get to enthusiastic about any possible coaching consideration with Ballin
Manly icon in many ways but still not an ideal outcome with his brief stint as the Manly 20 's coach a few seasons ago in terms of making a good impression or results outcomes
Doesn 't seem to have progressed much coaching wise since his return to Qld
Not even sure if he could contribute that much more in a specialist role but that is a different category to being a head coach

He is done, but it's just a matter of whether they use 2026 as a transition year or not. I think the next few weeks will decide that.
So am I reading too much into this? Does that mean that with the constraints we have with our salary cap that the owners / management of the club are already conceding that 2026 is going to be a poor season and don't want to send a new coach into the mess?

That's the jist of it. 2027 is when thing should open up a bit for us salary cap wise. 2026 will bring very, very few roster changes.

Mat has young family ( which is why he moved to Brisbane)

Looking at the team on paper, I don’t think we are a serious chance next year, if we have some signings targets and a bunch of cap space for 2027 then a transition year may not be the worst.

I’d personally prefer Tooves as a caretaker for a year in that scenario, but can see the logic of just keeping Siebs’ to cop the flak for another sub par year in ‘26.
