Ciraldo is not only a clever strategist, he also knows each of his players unique strengths, weaknesses, motivations etc and he has been able to push them individually and then as a team.

It is very hard to see any individual growth what so ever from any of our players, let alone the whole team, since Siebold has taken over.

Furthermore: A great coach always starts with belief and support, but when a player cannot or will not grow with the team, the coach must make decisions that serve the culture, cohesion, and future of the whole squad.

I’ve been lamenting all season how we haven’t been going through the middle, and just played side to side attacking footy that was easy for the opposition to set a game plan for.

Doing everything with the ball before earning the right too

Yesterday I liked the start and intent in defence and going up the guts with the ball, but at no point did we actually play any footy with the ball. 5 straight runs and a kicks isn’t going to trouble the defence either.

It was like watching the second half against the Storm all over again, only this time we weren't playing with a decent lead. Baffled me as well. It's one thing to be patient in attack, but another to be impotent. Mind you, every time we did look like building some momentum we'd make an error or a poor last-tackle kick, so that didn't help.

I don't believe we can blame Seibold for on field errors and the lack of execution. I thought we started the game well but were frustrated by the line speed of the dogs which was largely due to them being permitted to go early in the play the ball smothering us. It was a high quality game particularly in the first half and we fell away in the second half when they got on top of us right across the field. I would not have risked Bog O at this stage of the season and that was a unnecessary roll of the dice driven IMO by the coach's KPI's. We have a very tough draw ahead and I feel like it will be tough for us to get over this physiologically in the coming weeks. In many respects it was a reality check for us.

I think the real big difference is that Ciraldo was able to (somewhat) create the team he wanted and then given the time to do it via space on the park and no rubbish "premiership window" talk (yet)

From what I could see from their 2023 team when he started they still have 8 (and I may be wrong here re players) still in the club

Seibold has had around 16/17 players in the same time but interestingly if you looked at the cap space taken we really have not had any cap room as long as I can remember with next year being the first instance of it.

Now I am not saying he is a great coach, nor that Ciraldo being a promising coach what I am saying is that it is not exactly a direct comparison

Not a seibold fan but to be fair, we went with them up to the 55th Minute. A couple of bad errors could have been avoided (like Saab's dropped ball for their first try) or the forward pass to Rubes.. They played almost perfect. We started very well and were in the game at HT. I think Tommy Talua needs to come in for Saab who is error prone

A reality check on a number of fronts. It exposed our recruitment as way off irrespective of not having the money to make a big signing. Guys like Salmon, Mann, Curren, Morrin and Preston are all lower end on the salary cap. Preston is currently on a $300 000 contract. Why our coaching/recruitment team hasn't managed to come up with something better than Waddell is indefensible.

Yes we went with the Dogs early but eventually got exposed in the fitness department. Again, to be so far off is not acceptable. Thirdly, our attack was non existent which suggests the team/coaching staff are unable to make alterations on the fly. A deficiency which ultimately cost us a win against the Knights. And lastly, Olakau'atu should never have been given the green light. He was virtually non existent before reinjuring his shoulder. I can understand taking a risk on Cleary in a big final, but this decision will go down as a terrible one when the season is done and dusted.

Personally, I see Seibs as a below average to average coach and his overall record thus far supports this. Some of his recruitment choices are real head scratchers. Are there better options out in NRL land? of course there would be. That said, our biggest problem isn't Seibs. Rather our inability to secure third party deals that offer residual, life after football income for our best players means we are way behind the big boys. Then there's Penrith who are not only rich but oversee the largest junior league in the country. I fear we need a modern day version of Des Hasler if we are going to get anywhere near competing for a premiership. Who that person might be is anyone's guess.

Someone like Ballin would automatically command respect. His two premierships while playing arguably the toughest position on ground should see to that.

Agree with most of what you say. However, TT2 would not have scored the try that Saab did. He has nowhere near the pace.
