Im sure many of you have noticed how Des constantly ums and ahs in interviews...it’s painfully annoying. Ive heard he is the same with the players and I think the mind games have worn thin...clear and direct communication is so important with today’s young players and Des is not keeping up.

We'll get the same score against us next week ...... no risk. Panethsr ewi
Not one game mate. It's a half a season run that rivals (not rivals actually) IS the 2nd worst in rugby league history.
Manly of us gave him some slack last year because of the DES FACTOR and also because of the new rules, injuries, COVID (all things other clubs dealt with). However, to see the dud selections and NO improvement in this team after a whole off season together shows he really has no answer and even with no Turbo or Stabby (or alleged stabber) it is not a good enough reason to send a team out playing that badly.

WTF, who was that injured guy we signed today? Just what we need ....... another injured dud.

His personality is such he will dig in hard and keep picking the same players until he is sacked.
No way Des admits he’s wrong.
Going to be a long year. Sacked or not this years die is cast unfortunately.

A baptism of fire for anyone game enough to take the job. The top assistant coaches are selective these days as a wrong move can finish them. Hard to see who would take over. Matty Bs initiation into coaching over last couple of years wasn’t exactly inspiring .

There are no coaches on the sidelines in Australia that I think will be able to turn us around. So I would try and think outside the box and for me that is Shaun Wane. He has been pretty vocal about how he reckons he can cut it in the NRL - let him prove it. And he has been used to coaching in the touch footy Super League.

I think Fitzgibbon would be outstanding. He has been inside the very successful Roosters organisation and would bring game plans, structures and professionalism. He is also a very disciplined person and a good man manager.

What you say is true, however Roosters have something that we don't have, Nick Polites, he makes the impossible possible

Fitzgibbon won’t be getting a job at the Chooks any time soon because Robbo will never be sacked. He is the Craig Bellamy equivalent at the Roosters.

Fitzy has said that he is ready to be a head coach but wants to honour his handshake agreement not to leave until his assistant role expires at the end of this year.

That means he is open to offers for 2022.

Everyone talks Fitzgibbon up - I don't mind him but I am circumspect about the guys that are marked as the next supercoach.

In any event, I don't think we have a chance of getting him. When he takes a FG head coach role, I think it will be with a club that has resources and is not as far in the sht as we are at the moment.

More likely is that we will only be able to attract a coach that is desperate to prove that they can coach (or still coach) in the NRL (kind of like Des was when he came back).

Asking this because I am genuinely confused. Do you think our back-pedalling, give-the-opposition-as-many-metres-as-they-want defence is coached? It's so counter to common sense and everything you're taught about playing the game as a kid, and yet every one of our players does it. Is there a chance they're playing to the coach's instructions? Or are they all just terrible footy players?
Exactly!
