Run Koula Run

When you're coming from an angle and have started "in front" of someone (Drinkwater and Holmes didn't start behind Koula), the distance you have to cover is shorter than the ball runners running distance.

Koula ran about 85 metres. From where they started Drinkwater and Holmes would have gone about 60 or 70 at most, and Koula still passed them.

In a straight race, Koula burns them easily (see how easy Saab did that to Holmes last night). But if you have an angle on someone it makes it far easier to "run them down".

Koula is a power athlete, not an endurance athlete and fullback gasses him big time. You could see the lactic acid written all over that run of his and he still made it…they actually had the angle, his knee was strapped and he was absolutely gassed and he didn’t need to pass, he would have scored himself.

Definitely one of the fastest in the NRL. That’s why I don’t love him at fullback…too many kilometres for a guy whose strength is short sharp bursts. He is a fast twitch athlete, not an endurance athlete.

Too often we underestimate fatigue and the effect it has on a player’s speed. Last night I saw Tom run in quick sand next to Jordan McClean. No one is convincing me Tom cannot run faster than Jordan McClean, but when you’re gassed, you’re gassed!

And apparently he's out for a month with an MCL injury, which makes that run even more admirable, coupled with he ran a total 298 metres last night!

What you said is 100% correct and its why I honestly think, bad legs and all that we'd be better off with Turbo at fullback when he's back to full match fitness.

For mine, Koula is far more suited to the wing than fullback or centre.

Some may not like it, but I would be moving Koula to the wing before moving Garrick.

Surly [ Koula ] wasted on the wing and still [ in attack ] anyway went pretty well at one , despite being hampered with that knee problem .
Important role in helping set up Saab" s 2 nd try and just could not see either Turbo[ even with better fitness ] or young Hoppa getting so far down field when he eventually passed to Saab for try 3 . Although even carrying that injury , clearly could have got there himself if that was the only option .
Anyway , is unfortunately going to be missed over coming weeks .
Just have to hope that Turbo can pick up his game a bit to compensate the loss , Lehi should continue to compete well at the back but still a bit to make up in losing a player of Koula 's calibre

Saab only cramps so it’s lehi one turbo and Ruben centres not that bad a backline still

Statistically speaking, Reubs is actually a better defensive centre than Koula. His biggest problem as a centre for mine is his habit of trying to run around the defence in attack, then throwing a hail Mary flick pass when he finds he's run out of room.

He needs to learn the art of straight running and setting up his supports either side. Running diagonally to the corner only crowds the winger (Saab) and results in those stupid flicks.

There is only one Manly player who is not injury-prone: DCE.
Two.
You forgot Jake. Almost indestructible.

Get killer in for some coaching. How good would it be to see Killer and the Stewie boys on the coaching team. Yeah I know, it'll never happen.
