Broncos aren’t a bad team by any stretch and I don’t think they’ll be bottom two or three, but they have a long way to go before they’re pushing the 8.

Tesi Nui - imo not NRL quality as a fb
Who ever they play at 6 seems to be poor/below standard
Turpin looked like he has potential to be a good hooker 2 years ago but hasn’t come on.

Reynolds is quality but he can’t do everything himself.
Bite the bullet and put Cobbo at FB, he’ll make mistakes but in 2024 you’ll be rewarded.

Get a good hooker by 2024 and they’ll be going well, pushing top 6

They've had some good players (or atleast players that would be starting for them) leave as well in Mccullough, Pangai jr and Fifita. Tough going when you're growing good players like Fifita and they get signed by other teams on ridiculous deals which you can't compete with.

Reece Walsh, Sam Walker, Lodge, … even Ben Hunt … Kodi Nikorima (j/k)

Point is - they had the pick of the flock but let them all walk…

For us, the only regret I feel is letting Papalii walk…. but I’m not sure if he would have thrived had he stay..,. SJ is an obvious one but glad we fixed that mess up..

Should there be new rules to stop other clubs pouching players ?

I guess it’s a free market at the end of the day…..

Needs to be a far bigger salary cap relief for homegrown or long term players. The salary cap makes it way too hard to retain people. The whole idea of a salary cap is to prevent teams buying and creating super teams, but in my opinion it shouldn't be there to stop teams creating their own through juniors and player growth.

And the problem comes in when players take unders to stay at (or go to) successful and/or well-run teams - like Coates taking less money to go to the Storm. By definition, then, the salary cap is NOT working as intended, as it is not levelling the playing field at all, there is still an imbalance.

Is it better than an unmitigated free-for-all? Of course. But it's not a good long-term solution because it is still leading to entrenched 'winners' and 'losers'. Compare and contrast the Storm with the Tigers and tell me the cap is working just fine (I know there's many other factors at play in that comparison but it does illustrate the point).

So how come Nathan Cleary's tackle is a fine and Jazz got 2 weeks? I have not gone back and compared the Jazz tackle to the one last night and I claim no expertise, but Cleary's looked quite bad and Jazz's seemed relatively innocuous.

Protected species… simple as that

Also the Jazz tackle resulted in an injury which gave the media more ammo to play over and over… shouldn’t make a difference but it sure as heck does!

Mate, you guys got real problems if you have players willing to take LESS elsewhere.

What were the salary offer details with Jai Arrow leaving Titans for souths. Did he take less?

I want to fold some Kents

The NRL clubs need to start a new league, free of the ARLC and NRL. The way the game is officiated is ruining it as a spectacle and a contest. Worrying out how it impacts moms and juniors is stoopid.

The MMA and its mega success shows the NRL clubs the way to go. Give the players and the fans the game of rugby league that they want, not this rubbish we have to cop week after week now.

Titans reportedly offered around 675-700k per season. Souths offered 800k per season.

There is more to it than just year contracts values when it comes to the players in the upper echelon. His then partner had greater modelling opportunities in Sydney and was one of the factors in his decision to leave GC.

No doubt at all. But for young Coates the choice was play under Kevvie in a recent wooden spoon team, or go get tutelage under Bellamy in a top 4 team who challenge for a premiership every year. I'd have gone for less $$ too.

that Cleary, Tackle was a trip every day of the week. Anyone with a set of eyes could see he wrapped his legs around Walters's leg to entangle it and that by definition is a trip.

But you also need to consider that the Tigers had Tedesco, Moses and Woods on the books. More salary cap relief may have enabled them to be kept. Not to mention they’ve let players including Papenhuyzen and Fifita leave over the years due to salary cap pressures.

Didn't realise Tedesco was only 29, he's fallen off hard. Shouldn't be first choice fb for NSW or Australia anymore.

Oh absolutely, this just illustrates my point that it's not working.

You could make an entire team from ex-Broncos players who are playing for other teams, which would rival (or beat) the current squad. Well, in fairness Griffin is trying to do this at the Dragons...

Not sure that your definition is correct in footie terms where a trip occurs when the defender uses only his leg/foot and is hands off!
