I thought the Sharks went into their shell in the second half.

Johnson managed the game well and his kicking game kept the Warriors at bay. However they missed having Moylan out there and Trindall had a difficult time getting involved. It seemed like their pet play was to try and get Talakai 1-1 with O'Sullivan who to his credit stood up.

The Warriors just couldn't string enough good plays together. Some of the work Tuivasa-Sheck came up with in that second half was great and I thought when he crossed it would wake the Warriors up but there were too many occasions where they weren't in sync.

You can never accuse Matt Lodge of going missing but at times he can really stifle the play. He has a tendency to think pass first instead of just run and there were a few times when the Warriors were attacking the line where he just got the timing all wrong.

I don't think their strike players got enough good ball and they just have too many loose players to get into the arm wrestle.

It’s good having this thread for an independent point of view.

We won the second half and dominated the first 25. We lost if in the last 15 minutes of the first when the Sharks had 100% possession and we were fatigued out of the contest. Fault of the game rather than the Warriors when that can happen. Wrecked to many games this season - not just the Warriors.

No excuses though, our attack was poor. Kodi and Walsh offered little. To many errors at key moments.

Panthers next week - I’m picking an upset with two equal sets of substandard halves!

I've watched 3 games of walshs and I can safely say they would have doubled their chances of winning every single one of them with RTS at the back. His errors, he doesn't take tough runs, poor defence, always goes for the big play, doesn't support in the middle , poor under the high ball and always goes for the big play.

I'm not sure if I agree, a Walsh + Tuivasa-Sheck combo looks far more threatening than a Tuivasa-Sheck + Kosi combo. Walsh didn't have his best game but it's the Warriors best interest moving forward that he gets as much experience as possible. With the second-tier competition currently off limits to NRL players it makes it a bigger headache than it ought to be.

I understand the post was largely made in response to Walsh thinking he was too good for reserve grade but I don't buy that story. He left for the money plain and simple.

Yeah this. The Storm would still be trying to unscrew people's heads and dislocate their shoulders to put their opposition off, if it wasn't for the fact that they would have players suspended for doing so.

It was obvious where the pressure came from in order to end the "crackdown" (aka enforcing the rules) a few years ago. Suddenly the more successful and powerful clubs were being held to the same scrutiny as other teams because they removed the discretion from the refereeing. The Roosters had Gus as their mouthpiece and I can only assume the Storm threatened that they'd start playing AFL if they weren't allowed to go back to their cheating ways.

If you let clubs get away with it on the field but penalise them via the chequebook, there wouldn't be a single club that wouldn't just sign a blank cheque.

If you go back and look at how they were playing before Walsh arrived you would see that they struggled for points. Their highest score was against a Raiders side that had to play 65 minutes with only 14 players available and the Warriors just pipped them. When Walsh arrived they scored 20 against Melbourne, 24 against the Cowboys, 32 against Manly, 30 against Tigers and 28 against Cowboys. They have dropped off these past four weeks but there's no doubt that Walsh made them a far more potent side.

If the Warriors had their full contingent available I could understand going the safe route but they've lost both Harris-Tavita, Townsend and Turner who could spark them or help manage the team across the park. As a result, Walsh is doing a lot of their work as well.

Tuivasa-Sheck still gets through all the hard work at the back and still makes around 200m a game and is good for that odd incisive run. They don't really miss out on anything there it's just the risk and reward of playing Walsh.

Regardless Walsh can't play QCup so he's better off playing NRL where he has been valuable for them.

Wingers are usually marking up against one another and competing for cross-field kicks. If you have Walsh against Tupou for instance it's a mismatch. Fullbacks rarely have to deal with those contests.

With Walsh you're taking away some of his best advantages like his playmaking and foot-work by having him play wing.

At least that's the rationale, I don't think it would hurt the Warriors to give it ago at some point this year. With second tier footy all but cancelled for NRL clubs, you've got to find ways to get Walsh playing footy.

did you watch the Warriors game - there were quite a few contested bombs which Walshy had to field at FB.

as the last line of defense he also had to man up (an failed) on a rampaging Uele who scored. On the wing an attacking winger has limited space and options to hit you. At fullback you have to cover defence from multiple angles and field positions, and tackle anyone from prop to second rowers to halves centres wing and fullback. People with multiple different sizes skill sets and strengths

To say he’s ok at fullback but too small for wing doesn’t make any sense to me.

If he’s too small for wing, then hes too small to be on the field…
