Round 12: Other Games (2018)

And you missed that our team had three opportunities to convert penalties from in front or nearly in front. One of those missed opportunities (the Croker no try) led to a try on the next set for Newcastle.

Take four points (the try was not converted) off their score and add six to ours, not to mention the changed momentum as a result, Manly win.

Your point?

I can only assume you are implying Barrett told them to go for the try and not the goal?

The point is with or without the two missing bench players, they still could have won.

And my point was that pulling the score in isolation without looking at the details of the game is ridiculous.

Someone else was implying because Pearce was out, we should have won and therefore, are poorly coached.

When you look at what happened in that game, its not as simple as that.

And we were missing two starting players, not two bench players. Not sure if I have just misinterpreted your point about two players being missing. But to me that's not an accurate statement. (That is likely just my over analysis of English though haha)

Did anyone notice Klemmer waving a 'rag' when Marsden was taking a shot at goal. It was a deliberate distraction and should have been a repeat penalty shot.
None of the commentators saw it.

They did on FOX.

This play lead to a try for the bulldogs, their first, but look at the total lack of 10 meters by supercoach Henry Perenara. - No penalty awarded

Some teams def get policed more than others.

(sorry about the pic quality)

There will always be inconsistency from a player or referee on the field . It always has been and will always be .

That is some sort of pass from Benji Marshall. Brilliant!

If you're talking about the pass that led to their first try... I was watching and thought my God...foooorward! Passed it on the line...guy caught it at least 5 metres past the line.

But fox guys were happy with it, as were you, so guess it's just me.

It's not so much where the ball was thrown and where it was caught, at speed the ball will always travel forward, it's how it leaves the player's hands.
Wighton's pass to Cotric the other night left his hands in a forward motion and should have been pulled back

G'day Mr C

You're right, and I even posted a video on it the other night (where a ball gets thrown over one's head and it still goes forward) I just thought Benji launched it out of his hands forward and also wasn't in any way running with enough forward momentum to have the ball legally travel that far forward.

BUT.... the commentators were happy (though they #talkthegameup) and a few of you on here were happy with it...so as I said, maybe just me and the 'northern hemisphere' effect (lol)

Anyone who watched the Nein version of yesterday's game at ANZ could have been forgiven for thinking John Hopoate had made a comeback.

A few times during the game, Ray Warren referred to Will Hopoate as "John Hopoate".
