I think that’s probably exactly how we line up but I’m not sure we need 3 middles on the bench when Jazz can also fill that role (definitely not an edge). That’s where I think you can still fit Talau in, mainly as backline cover and give him some reps in the backrow to see if that may work. Ideally he’s just starting in the centres but unfortunately that won’t be happening.

In that case I’d probably leave out Brown as I want to see more of what Taukeaiho can offer, the pass for Bully’s try the other night was something I hadn’t seen from a Manly forward in some time

The battle for a position in the three quarters will be an interesting one, on merit and of recent performances Hoppa and Talau warrant selection, for me Garrick, Koula and Saab their form was down last season and they each need to improve.

Thought the bench lacked spark at times last season, Brown and Bully did change momentum and energy in games, though it would be good to have some spark around the ruck.

Middles, Tent, Jake, TKO should start for me with Bully a lock on the bench, the rest there are fairly similar.

I think Siebs will be pretty conservative 1st up and I reckon you're pretty much on the money, Mark. He could go Talau for Hoppa (that would also be conservative) but I think Hoppa adds that X factor Seibs talks about when he goes on about playing to our strengths. Sips would also be a conservative pick but TKO seems to have shown enough in the trial to earn a bench spot.
I wonder with Hoppa, if Seibs chops and changes Hoppa and Talau based on the size of the winger they are playing against until Hoppa fills out a bit. Either way, both would be wasted in reggies.
I just can't see Seibs playing Talau in the forwards without showing he's up to it by playing him in Reggie's. Sort of like what he did with Parks.

All I know is we are in trouble if burbo is our starting backrower. Seems the club are investing everything into a fringe first grader with bad hammys

The conservative approach is the easiest way to go for a coach and one of the worst decisions I have seen on this was when Haumole made his debut, he had an impact straight away and Des decided to not play him the next game in selecting JetSki.

My point being is Hoppa is a class player with a high ceiling, his form demands he should be picked along with Talau, the hope that Koula, Garrick and Saab find their best form is hope not merit. One out of those three on form should be playing NSW Cup.
