ROUND 1 other games

Penrith's line speed and intent in defence was very good for most of today's game. That's the blueprint.

LINE SPEED!!!!

It is the only way to beat the Eels. Nathan Brown got smashed every time he took the ball up. If you sit back and let the Eels run, they'll get their tails up and they have the strike power to make you pay.

Line speed is about enthusiasm so if we really want to win next weekend, I think we can.

Aggressive in defense, it can be hard when you only use 15 players. Smarter bench with more tactical substitutions, hold the ball and keep penalties to a minimum

I think you are dead right!

Really like the fact that "the big three " who left the Tigers all lost. Tedesco, Woods and Moses all looking for instant glory may well have done better to stick where they were and try and build something. Should have stayed on the bus !

Hold the ball is the key. Eels were hard to handle early because 'Riff kept dropping the ball. When they held the ball the Eels looked a tad ordinary.
(We'll still lose the penalties at home, but not by so much)

And holding the ball was a strong point for us last year, don't know the stats but from memory we were one of the best at that.

Yep.

Very important to match or better the Eels aggression. They aren't the most talented pack of forwards, all they have is intent. When you match their intent, you go a long way to winning that battle in the middle. Mannah and Alvaro are no frills, Ah Mau and Moeroa run hard but lack skill and then you have the likes of Beau Scott (over the hill) and Matagi coming off the bench. There is a real lack of enterprise in their pack. We are more skilful and dynamic in the forwards.

We just have to be aggressive.

Typical for me.

I picked the Titans in the tipping because they were the home team.

Then on Friday I thought “ nah they are **** and have a stack of new players whereas the Raiders are virtually the same as 2017”, so changed my pick.

And yes of course , the Faders do their thing ( fade) and that’s another one lost.

It’s no wonder that I don’t usually enter the tipping!!

Interesting stat

The teams that finished bottom 4 last year all created “ upset” wins in round 1 ( although ours wasn’t an upset really).

Could be a very very interesting season 2018

Why stay on the bus when you are offered the big money to be chauffer driven in a limousine ?
Its all about the money. Its all about the lifestyle after players retire and good luck to them I say .

I am like you , I don't get the tips right always but you must confess we do have a bit of fun along the way .
