Another loss and SieDud waffles on about how PROUD he is of the boys!

Hellooooooo!!!!

we were pathetic , got blown off the park in another big game and wee down 22-0 before we knew it

- 2 weeks in a row we have been slow to start , that is on the coach!!!

- Roosters put the cue in the rack and we got lucky with 3 intercepts

- all the ball on there line in the second half and all we could do was shuffle it predictable side to side and pass it to Tom where he stopped before the line many times

- Somehow we have a chance to win the game with 4 mins to go

- we put a bomb up and not one player try’s to contest it or catch the bloody thing and the roosters get the ball easily

- final set and we have a chance to win the game and we can’t even get to a kick with a playmaker where at the very least we could put up a bomb for Tom or someone to try and contest a catch and maybe score…. but nah… we just stuff around as usual headless and the game is over

Honestly, another inept pathetic performance where we went missing in a big game with the top 4 on the line.

you can’t blame injuries or the ref as that is not the reason this game was a DUD!

You can blame the coach and the players who didn’t show up and the duds that wouldn’t crack first grade in bush league!

but don’t worry tho……

Na mate you missed more than that, game was over after 20 mins, you didnt prep them properly at all. We should of been ready for this game, we were pathetic. Roosters swtiched off when the game was in the bag, we came back. Nothing more, nothing less.

Our defence in the first 25 minutes was horrible. Yes their first try was off an obvious forward pass and they had two lucky ricochets. Thats 18 points. I can never understand how a shoulder to the head resulting in a penalty and a player having an HIA and then ruled out of a game is not a sin ban. It should be mandatory. However two of their tries came from very poor defence. Fortunately our completion rate was good but defence wins premierships. I thought Burbo was safe selection in the centres, boy was I wrong.

He has been running the ball hard and doing a good job of finding his front these past few weeks.
Hopefully, he can fully recover with the extra time off due to the bye.

What I saw:

-1 roosters try from a forward pass awarded
-1 Manly try from a legal pass disallowed due to an apparent forward pass

Brandy questioned both in Manly’s favour.

-1 roosters try awarded to Radley after he pushed Waddell out of the way to get to the ball. This try also involved a fluke rebound in the roosters favour.

-a second roosters try from a fluke rebound.

-the roosters game plan was to go through our middle & their first 3 tries were scored this way.

-us reacting (albeit somewhat delayed) & closing up the gaps in our middle & preventing further line breaks.

-us never giving up & pressing the roosters to the very end.

To every doomer happy to say we got spanked & that our tries were “lucky” - did you miss 3 of the roosters “lucky” tries?

Are you aware of what is required by outside backs to be in a position to take an intercept? Obviously not.

Overall a great effort from our guys, they never gave up & very nearly got the win, well done!

It was a gutsy effort to stay in the game, especially with injuries (garrick/saab). What concerns me is the lack of go-forward out of our own end. We regularly get shown up in this part of the game, particularly against quality opposition. I don't recall Toff and Paseka hitting the line at full speed once during the whole game.

Sure that it is fixable but can not continue with those defensive shortcomings in the first 20 or so and expect to win footy games especially against the better standard sides .
Luck and good fortune working both ways eventually but when Manly finally knuckled down and kept the good completion rates going and even with a depleted lineup , clearly showed again that they can match it with any leading side in the comp .
Just thought that Burbo would be more suited to the backrow for better balance there , not so much to be not suited to a centre role . Did show not the best option there against established and above average outside backs but still showed quite a bit of grit last night and would have him in the backrow with Haumole .
Turbo went O K with limited opportunities , Brown and Bully just offering so much off the bench.
Looks like the best 9 combo is going to be a hopefully fully recovered Croker and Gordy .
Simpkin plays a steady type role but if last night is any guide in a more up tempo game , some limitations as well .
Alioai continues to be a bit of a liability with his injury prone situation . If a continuing problem , maybe only option Tent starting with Sipley and then Jake , Bully and Waddell sharing a middle role when Brown comes on though then would need really big minutes from Jake ,Bully and Brown on the park and Waddell not the most notable impact type player despite being a real trier .
Talau did show that he is able to stride out , no question Haumole could have probably swung the match Manly "s way if he was playing
Koula and the continued presence of Garrick and Saab would have made a real difference but the makeshift backline last night can take some real credit .
Fell short last night for a range of reasons but also showed that they deserve to be a finals side and competing with the best sides at the business end of the season

Let’s get real here. I watched the game from high up in the stands. Our forward were totally dominated. No go forward. Defence atrocious. We score 3 tries from intercepts and one was a push over. Attack went sideways. Roosters bombed at least 3 tries!

TBF, washed-up Teddy outplayed Turbo tonight. Look at what small Papps does every week for the Storm (and against quality opposition)… FFS, even Gutho puts in more consistently. Turbo is an amazing talent freak, but he does not have the ability to turn games against quality opposition. He dazzles us when the team is on top and he goes on a rampage. He disappears when his team is not on a rampage, and we need him to step up. We are constantly misguided by his freakish natural talent, but he lacks the ability to take a game by the scruff of the neck and own it… IMO.

Agree, but only against the top teams, either they contain him well or or he lacks confidence against tip teams like roosters, storm and penrith.

He certainly does own games against all other teams and can grab those games by the scruff of the neck

This is OT but frankly it troubles me that Michael Jennings is playing 1G NRL having been found liable (OK, in a civil case) for wrongdoings that I won't mention here.

Players like Carney and Barba are banned for life by the NRL - and likely both had addiction problems that were going to bring them undone over time.

But where on Earth can be said to be the consistent standard, in having players like those permanently banned yet Jennings plays and banks on??

I noticed Seidud dodged the question in the presser about what happened to Simpkin , why he didn't come back on. I'd say if Croker gets through today he'll come back in with Gordon at 14. He did much better when he came on yesterday.

I don't think he dodged it, the injuries to our forwards meant that we had to burn through the available interchanges to keep rotating the middle. Meant that we didn't have the ability to put him back out there.
