That first 15 minutes from us was terrible, and there really shouldn't have been any way back into that game from there. Maybe we paid attention to Canberra doing it to us, but we almost got there in the end.

And yeah, Seibs will say he's proud of the effort, and so he should be. That was all heart and grunt from a team composed almost entirely of backrowers playing out of position.

Biggest positive for me was Clayton Faulalo getting some well-deserved time in the top grade and playing really well on top of that. GCKT was a live wire as well.

Biggest negative, again, was the defence at the start of the game. How Sam Walker managed to make a break from dummy half when he was just kind of half-heartedly probing a completely set defensive line is beyond me. The only way that break ever happens is if three competent defenders fall off him one after the other. It should never, ever happen.

Fingers crossed the bye will do us the world of good.

Agree, having no Garrick and Saab when the game was there for the taking at the end was costly for us also.

Surely, somewhere in the Rugby League world there would have been a better player than waddell we could have signed instead of him. Like honestly, I think some coaches get blinded by the numbers rather than what's in front of them. I feel the same away about burbo funnily enough, albeit much much better than waddell
Waddell was a good player the first stint with us. He was a smart gap runner. We need more strong fast gap runners for DCE and Brooksie to put into holes. Ben and Jake are too slow, and Ole can just run over people. Who is the next Beaver?
Seriously, Ben is above average in nothing. He’s just a filler in the team.

That loss hurts so much. We had a chance to psychologically really turn this club around tonight. If we won, I would have felt so positive about what we are building and where we are heading. Now, I’m back on the 50/50 fence, hoping. I’m not convinced we have turned this last decade around yet. Hopeful, yes.

Was another dud call when Jennings didn’t get binned for the hit on Saab.
A penalty was sufficient according to Klown..

TBF, washed-up Teddy outplayed Turbo tonight. Look at what small Papps does every week for the Storm (and against quality opposition)… FFS, even Gutho puts in more consistently. Turbo is an amazing talent freak, but he does not have the ability to turn games against quality opposition. He dazzles us when the team is on top and he goes on a rampage. He disappears when his team is not on a rampage, and we need him to step up. We are constantly misguided by his freakish natural talent, but he lacks the ability to take a game by the scruff of the neck and own it… IMO.

The bye has come as a perfect time for us

The way I look at things if we get a home final week 1 then play another Sydney team week 2 of the finals I would be happy with that.

Roosters for mine if we get a chance to play them again in the finals we will get them.

Raiders in 2 weeks time last game we play outside of Sydney this year

Its a massive advantage for us

I see us finishing 5th or 6th and week 2 finals game at SFS where anything is possible

Missing Saab and Garrick for a large chunk of the match was telling, not to mention Ola who would have been the game breaker in that last crazy 15mins.
Melbourne don’t roll out these $hit excuses. They build systems and believe in players to play their role. That’s the difference.

We get all happy about a near win on the back of 3 intercept passes from a nervous self-imploding Rorters team. Meanwhile, Storm go rolling on season after season after season….

Just watched the replay to see the start I missed. Jake special giving away a penalty. And then DCE was touched on his kick (which is all that is needed these days), and yet nothing. Instead we get a penalty against Lawton next set and then they score off the back of it. Disgusting game management.

Imagine Turbo creating the same opportunity as Teddy for that first try. Regardless of whether it was forward, Teddy creates that opportunity… what did Turbo create???

Just quietly, who is training our players to do that ridiculous hop skip when they play the ball? Turbo is the key offender, but a few others do it too.

When the team was originally picked I thought that the coach had made some very poor selection decisions - mainly by putting Ben T in the centres when it was obvious that he lacks adequate pace. The better choice would have been to keep Ben and Laughton in the second row - where they had both recently performed well against the Titans - and bringing up another back such as Fulalo. And then when the game started we saw Ben partnered by Waddell on the left edge - which proved to be a significant problem all game. Additionally I thought that it would be very prudent to at least include a back on the bench in case of injury - and of course that problem did occur - in spades. Very disappointing, and it feels to me that wrong selections have now caused Manly to recently lose two (including that against Souths), games that were very winnable.

And that DCE defensive effort on the thrid try was deplorable. DCE gave him too much room and Turbo got dragged in to cover that pathetic effort. He would never do that playing for QLD.

Ohh, I see why Simpkin was dragged. The Preacher was even worst…. But remind me, we extended his contract yeah?
That was a very ordinary effort from Alioia to get pushed off by Walker, the way he played was well below par and he may struggle to make the best 17 if Lodge returns well in reserve grade and Sipley built on his game tonight.
