My cousin got to play with him in Wollongong in the later stages of his career. I remember him saying he thought he had played with some tough hombres until he saw big Cliff in action. Catching up with him for a beer on Saturday night & I expect he will peel off those stories again.

Tough, mean and ugly but I was fascinated with this English giant as a kid.
A shame to hear because he was working at St Vincent's hospital into his 70s I heard.
He was a great and respected rival of both the Sea Eagles and the kangaroos.

Too many of those Sharks players have gone. Steve Rogers, Greg Pierce , Rick Bourke, Chris Wellman and now Cliff. At least he lived to a venerable age.
