RIP Beau

For those that couldn’t be at the ground today I just wanted to let you know how special the pre match tribute was. The announcer told the story of Beau’s battle and a video was played on the big screen. I think it may have been Beau’s Mum and brother that then brought the game ball out onto the field.

The crowd spontaneously burst into solid applause for a full couple of minutes. It was like a big collective hug towards the family and I’m not ashamed to say that my wife and I both shed a tear. It was one of the most incredible reactions I have ever seen and I hope Beau loved it and his family took some comfort from it.

Great work Manly family.

The win was all gravy after that.
Thanks for that Bradza, I would have loved to have been there today but l cant drive for a few more weeks after shoulder surgery and I had no one who could have taken me to the game but thank you for sharing that mate, cheers

Have been working at the ground today and just got to pay my respects.
RIP Legend your story and fighting spirit has touched everyone's hearts
May you rest in peace

Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness!!
Seeing Beau's photo on that Sea Eagle casket is bloody heartbreaking. I can only imagine how the players will feel when they see that.

Edit: talk about perspective!!

Lisa Hewitt, the Aunty of Beau Hewitt, who sadly passed away after a rare form of cancer, has put a call out to the NRL to bring in a dedicated round called "thumbs up" for children battling cancer.

Lisa has today reached out to us here at Rugby League Daily to help her promote the campaign.

In a proposal to the NRL, Lisa said:
"I truly believe this round will have far reaching positive effects for the kids battling cancer and their families who have the same love and passion as Beau did for his precious Rugby League"

Beau was the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles biggest little fan, and anyone who has seen his videos would know how much the boys and the club loved and adored Beau, just as much as Beau loved and adored his club.

In 2024 Tom Trbojevic celebrated one of his tries with a thumbs up gesture dedicated to Beau.

We think this is an awesome thing that Lisa is doing here and we couldn't be more proud of her and her family for the strength and resilience shown during this difficult time.

We would love it if you could please share this post out with the hash tag #ThumbsUpForKids #ThumbsUpForBeau to show your support

How wonderful is the article in Manly Media about Beau & the UK Rugby League…..RIP little man! The boys will do something special for you next season 🙏🏼…..

'The people driving this initiative are Geoff and Irene Burrow (parents of the late England and Leeds Rhinos half, Rob Burrow), and league fans Andrew Foster and Catherine Alport (parents of the late Rycroft Alport Foster).'
