I can't put it into words well but I still hold this 1976 try to be the most Manly of all Manly tries.

Thanks for posting that Brissie Kid, just fantastic. How good was Wombat?

Shut the gate the Sea eagle has bolted , No one does it better than the Mighty Sea eagles !!!

Great try. I've never seen that one before.

One of my favorite Manly tries of all time was scored by Craig Hancok at Brookie against Cronulla on Saturday the 13th August 1994. The movement started in the NE corner, the ball was moved along the back line to the opposite side of the field, the break was made all the way down the other end of the field and then passed back across to the SE corner for the try. Danny Moore involved. Cliffy and Terry Hill too. Manly scored at will in the first half of that game. Menzies making a break from the kick off to set up another try. Was on the ABC live on a Saturday afternoon. I have tried to find the match highlights on YouTube to no avail :(

I was in awe of Wombat as a kid. Even more than Bozo as he left end of 1976 & I can't remember him that well at Manly.

Give a big thumbs up to Jackson in that try. he got smashed trying to take the catch but when Eadie had got up field it was Jackson there to take the pass.

This is the same year but at Brookie. The place was rocking! Rex: "You can't beat the referee Pringle!"

Keep trying bones , we all have to see this one

Ian Martin was the unsung hero of the 1970s. Played in all 4 premiership teams of the 1970s. I think only Graham Eadie matches that. Saw Martin at Brookie last Sunday doing the walk around the oval. Foran reminds me a lot of Martin especially in aggression, resilience and toughness.

I am sure i saw that try the other day bones!

Time for a friday arvo hunt.....

Ok... It was 1994. Saturday the 13th August and Manly won 38-10.

Found it!! :)

The magic ball from Lyon to Cunningham. I'd forgotten all about that. Wow!

ah bugger.

sorry

Thanks for the memories guys. Loved watching wombat back in the day. Best Manly fullback ever.

I remember that try Bones - awesome. Those Cronulla highlights also reminded me of one of the best small forwards we've ever had - OJ. Always punched well above his weight.

Yes one of my favourite players too. Wombat and Igor also played in all four premiership winning sides during the 70s.

Ian Martin, known in his day as Im-a-Martian, was as good a tackler as you'd hope to see. Went in hard and low, unlike the ball and all tackles of today.

These videos will show the younger Manly supporters that we've had champions over many decades. It's easy to call the present players 'greats' when you haven't seen who preceded them.
