Rest in Peace thread.

Fun fact I read somewhere: no one born after 1935 has walked on the moon.

(If anyone did at all, but that's another thread 😂)
That’s more of a sad fact.

Here’s one that you may not realise:

Jim Lovell (as opposed to Lowell😉) was one of only three men to go to the Moon twice. The other two, John Young and Gene Cernan (navy men like Lovell) flew to the Moon on Apollo 10, to test the CM/LM combo in lunar orbit, on a mission commanded by Tom Stafford.

Stafford was also USN to begin with, but transferred to the newly created USAF, soon after finishing at Annapolis.

Anyway, I digress.

The difference between Lovell, and Young and Cernan, is that the latter two set foot on the Moon the second time around. On Apollos 16 and 17 respectively.

Whereas Lovell remains the only man in history to date - to have ventured to the Moon twice - without setting foot upon it.

Absolute balls of steel the lot of them.

Lovell and Borman went up in Gemini 7 for almost 14 days! If you've seen how small those capsules were....it's a wonder they didn't go bonkers.

As Lovell said once (something like....) well when the other guy "had to go" you just turned your head and looked out the window. lol.

Former heavyweight boxing champion Joe Bugner has died in a Brisbane care home aged 75.

Fighting under the name "Aussie" Joe, Bugner won the Australian, British, European and Commonwealth belts and became the sport's oldest world heavyweight champion.

At his peak the Hungarian-born boxer, who lived more than half his life on the Gold Coast, fought Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.
