She was a true icon. And what a struggle she had to overcome. And a fighter.

I first saw her at St George Leagues. My friend was (still is) an entertainment journo and Roger Davies asked her to come along and interview Tina because he was relaunching her career post Ike.

Incidentally Roger Davies is an incredible story himself. An Aussie manager, he started with Sherbet, then Olivia Newton John, Tina Turner, Sade, and to this day, manages Cher and Pink.

Back to Tina, she was amazing at that show in dowdy old Kogarah and my friend said she was an absolute delight to interview.

Years later I worked at the Entertainment Centre and saw her lots of times. Brilliant every time. And dedicated. Her people told us that every night she'd go straight back to her hotel and drink green tea and meditate.

May she Rest in Peace.

RIP Tina! What an Icon!

Each to their own but I thought Tony's passing would garner more interest.

🤷‍♂️

Sinead had such a powerful, emotive voice. Stood up for the downtrodden at the potential expense of her career.
Gone too early

Larry Tesler: Computer scientist behind cut, copy and paste dies aged 74

Larry Tesler, an icon of early computing, has died at the age of 74.

Mr Tesler started working in Silicon Valley in the early 1960s, at a time when computers were inaccessible to the vast majority of people.

It was thanks to his innovations - which included the "cut", "copy" and "paste" commands - that the personal computer became simple to learn and use.

Xerox, where Mr Tesler spent part of his career, paid tribute to him.

"The inventor of cut/copy & paste, find & replace, and more, was former Xerox researcher Larry Tesler," the company tweeted. "Your workday is easier thanks to his revolutionary ideas."

Mr Tesler was born in the Bronx, New York, in 1945, and studied at Stanford University in California.

Larry Tesler: The Silicon Valley history man
After graduating, he specialised in user interface design - that is, making computer systems more user-friendly.

He worked for a number of major tech firms during his long career. He started at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (Parc), before Steve Jobs poached him for Apple, where he spent 17 years and rose to chief scientist.

After leaving Apple he set up an education start-up, and worked for brief periods at Amazon and Yahoo.

Friends and family have paid tribute to Queensland's first State of Origin coach, John 'Cracker' McDonald, who has died at the age of 79.
Mr McDonald rose to prominence in rugby league in the 1960s after playing for the Manly Sea Eagles, captaining the side in their 1970 grand final loss to Souths.
He played 13 Tests for Australia before becoming the Maroon's first coach, then spent 20 years as the chairman of the Queensland Rugby League.

In a post on social media, his son Toowoomba Mayor Geoff McDonald paid tribute to the league great, saying his father was a remarkable individual who dedicated his life to making a positive impact on the lives of those around him.
Mr McDonald said his father died peacefully yesterday afternoon.
QRL chairman Bruce Hatcher said Mr McDonald was “quite simply a remarkable individual who touched the lives of so many people around him.”
