Refs on the take?

As many have argued for years, having a video ref hamstrung by being able to only adjudicate on certain things is like a judge in a murder case restricted to narrow parameters: "yeah, he killed her alright, but because he used a knife he's not guilty because I'm only allowed to rule on firearm offences. Case close, you are free to go."

The referees boss has come out and cleared the officiating over the forward pass for Drizzle try one and the accidental offside penalty . The game is controlled by boneheads !! No accountability only denial !!! Straight out of the greenturd text book!!

Maybe the ref boss can explain to the players, coaches, media, fans etc etc what the rules are regarding forward passes because the refs seem to have a completely different interpretation to everyone else. When the opposition coach (Bellamy) can even admit that it was forward, what are we all missing or misinterpreting

If you don't agree with Harrigans solution to stop teams from scoring off forward passes your agreeing to the status quo.
It's true what he said it is t he touchies job to pick up forward passes, obviously making the point that it's not working.

It just stinks. Can anyone name any other organisation/govt role that is totally unanswerable. Everyone in every walk of life is accountable to someone. There are govt inquiries into everything, even into themselves. No one is completely free to do whatever they like, except the nrl refs and the ref boss. No one is allowed to question them. Can anyone think of anyone else that is afforded that luxury. Not just in Aus, worldwide, everyone is answerable to someone for their actions

If they defended these decisions as legitimate then the game is truly in trouble. They are already blowing smoke up our asses by constantly ignoring the plight of the game publicly and with all this #talkthegameup rubbish. Australians generally don't respond well to this sort of rubbish.

If they said it was a mistake made in the heat of the moment, then I can probably live with that - though it is still unacceptable. How about less tip sheets and more time spent training on the actual rules.

The ref's boss didn't say that the pass wasn't forward (as even he knows it was); he just said that:

"The decisions were made in real time and the officials who ruled on them were in good positions."

Our annoyance is that if the officials were in good positions at the time (which they were) then how did that Muppet get it so wrong?

The ref's boss tried a bit of fancy double speak which everyone can see through except (my guess is) sports 'journos' who won't follow up that statement with what I typed above.


If being in that good a position and still not calling that pass forward, the touchie (and possibly a ref) is either:
-incompetent
-corrupt
- being instructed to rule that way by others.

There is no way I believe he simply 'missed' it or thought it was a good pass. He even had a line on the field for guidance.

Without question, once these officials reach the big time, they should have to acquiesce to the same level of scrutiny that the nrl demanded of the manly club. Handing over of all finances and electronic devices. (Someone tell ge he's dreaming).
