From the Manly Sea Eagles website, here is the ' Rd 23 Sea Eagles Injury Report' released on Tuesday, 06 August 2024:

Josh Aloiai continues to recover from a knee sprain injury and is currently rehabbing on field and in the gym with plans to return next week.

Tolu Koula has returned to controlled skills in team training this week and is on track for a return to play in the next couple of weeks.

Aaron Schoupp underwent successful surgery last week after his shoulder dislocation.

Matthew Lodge is continuing to integrate into team skills, including contact training, while working in the gym to regain his full strength post injury.

Jake Arthur suffered a stress fracture in his left foot and underwent successful surgery to stabilise this. He will remain in a boot for the coming weeks and is expected to be sidelined for four months.

From the 'NRL Casualty Ward - All the Latest Injury News, Updates & Returns Details' web page, Here is the Latest NRL Injured or Unavailable Update:

* * * (Updated: Thursday, 08 August 2024) * * *

Huge inclusions for the Sea Eagles with Lehi Hopoate (eye socket), Reuben Garrick (head knock), Jason Saab (head knock) and Lachlan Croker (concussion symptoms) all back on deck for the trip to Canberra.

Croker hasn't played since Round 9, with the combined effects of a concussion suffered that day and an associated neck injury leaving him in constant pain.

Manly Sea Eagles
  • Reuben Garrick (Head Knock, Round 23)
  • Jason Saab (Head Knock, Round 23)
  • Haumole Olakau'atu (Suspended, Round 23)
  • Lehi Hopoate (Eye Socket, Round 23)
  • Lachlan Croker (Concussion/Neck, Round 23)
  • Josh Aloiai (Knee, Round 24)
  • Matt Lodge (Biceps, Round 24)
  • Tolu Koula (Knee, Round 25)
  • Aaron Schoupp (Shoulder, TBC)
  • Jake Arthur (Foot, 2025)

Also, from the NRL Casualty Ward, Manly hub page, there are slight variations to the information regarding the unavailable or injured players and their return periods:
  • Josh Aloiai (Knee, Round 24)]
  • Matt Lodge (Bicep, Round 24)
  • Tolutau Koula (Knee, Round 25)
  • Jake Arthur (Foot, Next Season)

Talau, Aloiai, and Simpkin all appeared injured so no clue if they'll make an appearance. Haumole back, Croker probably back, and Seibold thinks Hoppa will be back. Assuming Talau is fine:

1. Turbo
2. Saab
3. Talau
4. Garrick
5. Hopoate
6. Brooks
7. DCE
8. Paseka
9. Croker
10. Sipley
11. Olakau'atu
12. Lawton
13. Jake
14. GCKT
15. Bullemor
16. Waddell / Burbo
17. Brown

I think Burbo might need a couple of weeks in reserve grade, rather than waste away on the bench. He needs to work on his defence. Aside from that, with question marks on Aloiai, Simpkin and Talau, basically full strength. I deadset think Talau/Hoppa might actually be better than Koula/Talau.

Only a couple of changes I would choose,

1. Turbo
2. Saab
3. Talau
4. Garrick
5. Hoppa
6. Brooks
7. DCE
8. Tent
9. Simpkin
10. Jake
11. Guaca
12. Lawton
13. Brown

14. Gordie
15. Bully
16. Sipley
17. Ben T
18. Navale

I don’t think Seibold would move Jake but the team look better with Brown playing the link man.

Don’t think Navale would get picked though his form is better than Alioia and Waddell.

Croker see how he goes in contact tomorrow, been out for 3 months, confidence will be a big one for him after that injury.

Unfortunately I don’t think Hoppa will be fit given he was ruled out for 4-5 weeks just last week.

Burbo needs an extended run in reserve grade so I’d give Faulalo a crack in FG until Hoppa/Koula are fit, he’s looked good in his limited chances + dominated reserve grade for a while now so deserves the opportunity

Croker has worse service than Simpkin and less impact than Gordie so should not be in the 17 barring injury

Seibold said in the press conference Hoppa would be good to go against the Raiders, he said we missed his speed.

Manly has never won a game with Burbo as a starting centre. I think last night was the fifth such time (2022 x 3 / 2024 x 2).

You might be right. Yet when he's thrown in at centre during the game, Burbo sure has dominated some very fine centres.

This may not make sense to some. But when U make your way to grade via the bench. Starting can be a different beast to conquer. Burbo has been moved around a fair bit.

I still think he's one hell of a centre, and that centre has been his best spot this year. But U might well be on the money that he not a comfortable starter yet.

Easy to see why if 4 games starting 4 losses. Probably not many back to back either.

Confidence and not having the time to over think it, are both wonderful things.

It was a sharp move from Robison to switch Su’ualii to the right edge, Teddy gave That edge a good test, Ben wasn’t the Lone Ranger caught out there, Waddell was off the speed a few times.

Hoppa back for the next game will help with Talau playing centre, Lawton to the left edge forward and Guaca on the right and Ben back to the pine.

I will take any sort of win in 2 weeks time
We just need to bank the 2 points
Helping us raiders will be coming off a huge game up at Belmore this Sunday against the dogs
We just need to win

From now until finals is all about just winning. Doesn't matter by how many points because F/A is irrelevant to us with the draw. It's just about winning all our games till finals, seeing if the uncontrollables can go our way, and putting ourselves in the best position for week 1.

If we can make top 4 that is awesome. Otherwise a home final at a sold out Brooky for the first time in 5 years is mouth-watering. Finishing 5th or 6th and playing a Dolphins/raiders/cowboys is very enticing, especially with the fact the week after we can most likely get Cronulla as they will finish 4th and play Melbourne in week 1.

Didn’t think Brookie got a home final anymore. Agree re f/a we just need to win from here and our draw is pretty good really. No reason we can’t win out from here to jag a spot in the 4. Beating Raiders, Dogs and Sharks will be like 4pt wins.

I know a lot will say finish 4th gives us a second chance. But, finish 5th, playing at Brookie is so darned to irresistible to pass up.

Trouble is of course , be slightly off playing in a final 5 - 8 , lose , and Gone
Maybe better to finish 5th than play either Storm or Penrith and possibly pick up injuries. Imagine coming from 5th and making a GF, the win from 5th would also give us momentum leading into the next semi. Something to ponder I guess.
