From the 'NRL Casualty Ward - All the Latest Injury News, Updates & Returns Details' web page, Here is the Latest NRL Injured or Unavailable Update:

* * * (Updated: Friday, 19 May 2023) * * *

The Sea Eagles have been dealt a huge blow after the club confirmed three forwards could spend up to six weeks on the sideline after suffering injuries on Sunday.

Lock Josh Aloiai will be out for up to six weeks after he suffered a dislocated shoulder that was put back in place by medical staff in Sunday's loss to the Sharks at 4 Pines Park.

Fellow forward Kelma Tuilagi will undergo surgery on a facial fracture and is expected to miss the club's next six matches while veteran prop Aaron Woods is also expected to miss 4-6 weeks due to a fractured thumb.

Manly Sea Eagles
  • Josh Schuster (Quad, Round 12)
  • Jake Trbojevic (Calf, Round 12)
  • Cooper Johns (Ankle, Round 12-13)
  • Toafofoa Sipley (Suspension, Round 13)
  • Zac Fulton (Elbow, Round 14)
  • Josh Aloiai (Shoulder, Round 16-17)
  • Aaron Woods (Thumb, Round 17)

End of the round we'll be 3pts from the top of the ladder, or 3 pts from the bottom.

Plenty for some individuals to play for and fire up for:
  • Turbo is being left out of most pundits Blues squad on form (as he should). Will this motivate him to a blinder, or will he limp into the Origin period with the same restraint he has shown all year?
  • Haumole has 1 last chance to show if he is origin-ready, or still continues these fatal lapses in concentration.
  • Jake is back early, potentially to prove he is also fit for the blues but playing at Lock for the first time this season.
  • Schuster gets his chance to shake off many doubts fans have about the eggs the club put in his basket as our future 5/8th.
  • 3 forwards out gives some fringers a chance to show us if they offer more than what we have seen the last 3 weeks - these are long-term injuries (6+ weeks) and we need some grunt to step up - will it be Keppie, Burbo, Condon, Bullemor or Fainu? Or will we be rotating benchers for the nert few weeks as we see the 8 move out of our reach.
Manly's best game of the season against the Storm (helped by them underperforming..) was followed up by 3 shockers:
  • Titans we failed to convert early pressure when we were dominating, and when the tide started to turn, we couldn't wrestle the momentum back.
  • Broncs we just didn't give ourselves any chance with the number of errors in 1H.
  • Sharks we just didn't gain the ascendency at any time in the game until the Sharks had us beat, and late comeback aside we were never in it.
All of these games had boneheaded errors, penalties and the like, but the main thing that went missing was how we responded to momentum changes (or not having momentum ever swing our way until the game was gone).

We are missing a game-breaker right now and are playing a very lacklustre brand of footy - and I have my doubts that Siebold has the kit to turn it around unless some inspiration (other than DCE) is shown on the park - esp in the pack.

We can't make it into the 8 by the end of this round even with a win. If we fall too far off the pace it will be the season done.

Our spine has been playing damaged or filled with stop gaps - you can't win nrl games without a strong spine ....
Turbo for whatever reason/s has been woeful
Froggy, not a true 9, but with a big ticker and work ethic, is playing broken
Johns is a stop gap and not first grade level, in defence he is a speed bump
DCE ..... uninspiring needs an organising 5/8 (in the Foran mold) so he can be the running half he is
We absolutely need to sort the spine and add to that a couple of hard hard working footy head forwards .... and we will start to go north.
Our recruitment for quite a while now has been mystifying
having said that
GO MANLY

I’m expecting a significant loss , due to lack of enthusiasm, lack of speed , lack of desire ( not all players but the majority ).

So the balls in their court , not the coach , not the refs , not the ball boys the actual men that handle the ball & make the tackles.

Let’s see if they can surprise me.

Whoop hooo Game Day !!!!! Another flogging Raiders by 20. Glad I'll miss watching it.

This is when you start really see what direction we’ll take for the remainder of the year. It’s no coincidence our attack has been terrible with Cooper at 6. Josh comes back in with a point to prove.

Jake will ensure the lack of defensive line speed is gone this week.

We need to win this game. Win and we’ll have confidence leading into Newcastle next week and then the bye.

Its a must win, especially after a few of the teams below us winning.... I hope they surprise us all.

This game will go one of two ways. (Though I suppose there is always the chance of a draw.) 🤓
Can't help thinking it'll be down to how much our players want it.
Would love to see Burbo and Samuela stake a claim for keeping their spots long term.
And a booming Sea Eagle debut for Condon would be timely too!
This game is actually as big a challenge as any we've had all year, so a win will be our best this year.
Go Manly!

Here go again Go Manly
Hopefully with a few forced changes, some new blood we can at least harden up, show some enthusiasm and effort.
God knows what we will get, hopefully a bloody miracle

GO MANLY
