Queensland open to NSW invasion

Between them they share the fiercest rivalry in rugby league but Queensland Rugby League CEO Rob Moore says he would welcome any New South Wales-based NRL clubs who wish to affiliate with areas of Queensland in the new state cup structure announced on Thursday.

From 2018 the Intrust Super Cup and Intrust Super Premiership competitions will be promoted and resourced as the premier pathway for players hoping to play in the NRL with the current National Youth Competition to revert to state-based under-20s competitions.

NRL clubs who currently have affiliations with Intrust Super Cup clubs in Queensland are the Cowboys (Mackay, Northern Pride, Townsville), Broncos (Souths Logan, Norths, Wynnum Manly, Redcliffe, Ipswich), Titans (Burleigh, Tweed Heads) and the Storm (Easts, Sunshine Coast).

I've been pushing for a connection between the Capras and Manly for years now. I'd love to have Munster and Glasby in the Manly system at the moment and get our hooks into all the other talent that goes with other sides into the NRL. Corey Oates would be good as well.

Sigh......

Moving a little sideways with this, why doesn't a Sydney Club affiliate with a team in Wollongong or Wagga or Queanbeyan, not only increases exposure for the Club, could actually save Country Footy.

Re Qld invasion, I've often noted the lack of border protection between the two states, and the riches of Qld funded by Nsw gst takings are obvious when you see the infrastructure up there.

It would be relatively simple for the Nsw armed forces to quietly assemble at a few places like tweed heads, moree and tenterfield

As an old Moree boy.......lol!!

Be really good if NSW invaded QLD, then wearing my Blues jersey wouldn't be so ****ing dangerous!!!

Qld's defence is all in Townsville prepared for threats from the north.

They would be woefully unprepared for an attack from Nsw. Our boys would be in Brisbane within hours.

What I cant understand is why Manly were barred from continuing their affiliation with Sunshine Coast by the NRL. Can someone please explain that to me. It worked well and would be great to restart. If other clubs can have multiple feeder clubs, why shouldnt Manly

They have moved all of the NSW army forces to QLD or NT. QLD have 4 regular infantry battalions, the only advantage we have is the special forces still live here in NSW, 2 CDO battalion and the part timers 1 CDO.

We do have a few the raffies if you can get them away from their lattes with F18 Hornetts at Williamtown as well and absolute overkill in the navy

Well. The special forces guys will have to step up.

The navy will have trouble with the shallow moreton bay shoals, and I think williamtown has more Hercules and caribous than fighters.

Baird is open to Nsw forming a state militia I'm told. And not before time.

You are quite correct with regards to the Caribous being long gone and the Hercs being based at RAAF Base Richmond however, you are incorrect with regards to the Globemaster.

Both 36SQN and 37SQN used to be based at RAAF Richmond operating a fleet of 12 Hercs for each Squadron (36SQN firstly with the C130A and then C130H & 37SQN firstly with the C130E and then C130J).

36SQN is now based out of RAAF Base Amberey operating 8 C-17 Globemaster aircraft.

36SQN had their fleet of 12 C130H Model Hercs transferred to 37QN when 36SQN moved up to RAAF Base Amberley just prior to taking possession of their first Globemaster aircraft.

The fleet of 12 C130H aircraft have since been retired after approximately 34 years of service.
