They're good Melbourne, but they aint no Manly 2008 edition.
Geez, I hate the Storm's grubby tactics. Smart to play the percentages and work the technicalities, but they are so not what the spirit of this game should be about. And despite this, they get a sickening amount of support from the media and officials.
They only won due to a forward pass try 😡They're good Melbourne, but they aint no Manly 2008 edition.
And what's even more frustrating is that they are a good enough team to not play like that and they certainly don't need the ref's assistance. I don't think they would be that far ahead of the pack (if ahead at all) if you took away the extra buffering they get.I rarely watch the storm during the reg season as throwing up is usually messy and bad, but I thought I'd give the finals a go.
They are just excruciating to watch. Every little forward pass, dodgy tackling technique and leg up from the refs is terrible to witness and horrendous to see how the commentators wont call them out.
Scam never touches the ball to his foot after a penalty...he points to the opposition as if to say they are off side and wastes a few more seconds.
Every player going down shot to waste time (many sides do that though). Chambers deliberately delaying the game and nothing. Slater just gets tackled...threw the ball away and got a penalty.
It goes on and on and the refs never do anything about it. 5-0 penalty count against Parr deep into the second half...yeah right.
The storm and that coach are the absolute worst. Journos doing the human centipede on them is just as bad.
The ruck was a lay-around-fest today and I don't recall the ref's blowing the whistle once about it. There was one particular tackle on Rad about mid way through the second half close to the half way line where I was dumbfounded as the Storm player laid on him for an eternity. Rad was on his belly trying to get up, bucked a number of times, stopped and looked up at the ref, bucked again, all while the Storm guy worked on his sun tan on top. Just mind-boggling they let that crap happen in the game. The good news is the Eels lost. The bad news is the Storm won.
But the holding and niggle and general faffing around going on in the tackles - from both teams - was mind-blowing. If we did that, the ref would blow the whistle till he was blue in the face.
Agree. While I know we still have a big job ahead of us this evening with the Panthers, if we do get through I'm quite looking forward to the challenge of the Storm. Would prefer not to be playing at AAMI, but hey, anything can happen and Parra showed in that first half, the Storm are not invincible by any means. The premiership is anyone's, and as far as I know the manly of last week was far more impressive than any side has shown this week. One game at a time and we can do this, go manly
