PRE-GAME DISCUSSION: Manly v Warriors [Round 9, 2021]

Warriors side has several players I've never heard of, so looks like both sides will be quite inexperienced by NRL standards.
Their winger doesn't even have a photo on the official NRL game page!

They had blokes on loan that I'd never heard of last year and they flogged us both times. We'll be up against it with Marty and Josh missing and will need to be on our game to get the win. Hope the emotion of Tom's 100th and the 2011 anniversary will have the boys fired up.

My guess is Harper’s still in doubt... Suli to centre and Burbo onto the bench.

I’d think that if either was to be out they’d be culled from the squad today mate. It’s a waste if either held a spot in the 19. Captains run is done and dusted so I’d think they’re both in.

I'm more worried about walsh playing. CHT back i think is a positive for us because like for like on positions DCE game manages CHT way better. the way warriors win against us is quick footy and walsh, rts, nikorima taking advantage of momentum. if we can slow the ruck we'll win easy.

He seems to be able to beat his opposite number a fair bit imo. Sulis lateral movement is non existent, that’s probably more my worry than anything else.
Agree about Reece Walsh. He has that explosive Brimson speed off the mark.

Katoa was named in the Warriors back row to return but is now out with Bailey Sironen replacing him. That’s a decent loss for them.

Both Harper and Garrick were in footage on Channel 9 from today’s captains run so I would imagine would be confirmed to start.

Their pack will smash us this has to be one of the weakest packs we have ever fielded. I would be more confident if this was an away game we have no advantage playing at lottoland.

cant say ive watched him heaps so was wondering, cheere.

what i have seen is he is hot or cold - have seen him tear up once but also seen him drop a few balls.

will be an interestingbattle. Is harper definitely out? Could be rumour mill.

Has Des kept Suli on the bench in case either Harper or Garrick succumb to their (rumoured) injuries during the game?

I honestly cant see Des using Suli for forwards rotation so seems a bit risky having him instead of another forward on the bench - unless its a smokescreen for Burbo to come onto the bench for Suli & play second row rotation?

My understanding is that we don't have another forward, Ben T is the last man standing.

and he can play Centre/Wing. Depends if he played Jersey Flegg yesterday. If he didn't he plays. Again I can't see any hope in hell Des with our inexperienced forward rotation without Marty and Aloiai goes in with only two forwards on the bench besides Cust. I know Ben T needs to get stronger etc BUT with Sipley not able to play big minutes, Keppie and Paseka who seem to play in fits and starts, Haumole new to the run on side, Saddler inexperienced there is just no way Ben T wont be in the side. The only out is if Suli has been training as a backrower for weeks and even then it is a crazy thought to have only two forwards on the bench with our current inexperience.

I definitely understand the feeling of anxiousness that comes with the naming of Suli on the bench. For me, like a lot of times in life, there are always going to be times when you enter the unknown. It is what it is, and, as fans, we just need to trust what the club is doing to move us forward into the future.

Let's see where we are at after this weekend.
