Positive suggestions for the club going forward

if the story is true that he knocked back a big offer for his part of the club i don't think people not renewing memberships will bother him....unfortunately

I don't have anything positive to say right now as I am pretty down on this club at the moment. That path is well worn, so it is a great idea to have this thread, and I'll be interested to hear some positive suggestions.

Oh wait I have one!. I want to see the Manly mentality brought into the marketing. We need to put some of the legacy character built by the former players of this club over many decades front and center to help drive that culture back. I think one thing we are seeing in modern communication is a lack of referencing our history, and that is in everything not just rugby league, and not just Manly.

If we ignore the past we lack guardrails for success in the future when it comes to a club that has had such success.

New young forwards, two promising middles, hart and young guy from ipswich on edge, couple young guys from knights and a couple young hookers… think we are rebuilding with fresh legs and mobility in forwards… excellent game organizing half who is leading comp atm and a gun young 7. Should shift our mindset toward positive future from ‘27 onwards

Won't Mestrov be holding the Football Club AGM at some point towards the back end of the year?

I need to become a member at some point, but if anyone is planning on attending this AGM, raising a few of these constructive suggestions to Mestrov, may bring about some change. Keep the requests conservative, however.

Asking for Silvertails to get special access to the club/players is a bit of a stretch, as there's also strong Manly communities on Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit, who would then miss out.

Aside from that, a lot of these suggestions are really good! Particularly the injury updates.

I remember in the last off-season, Seibold did a little article about the upcoming juniors. If that were to become a regular occurrence, I would really appreciate that too. It was very insightful.

I didn't renew when they sacked Tooves. Or at least tried to. They kept trying to renew me.

The emails were just spam
Had to unsubscribe time and time again.

They ignored the very strict laws on unsubscribing even after at least five phone calls and a heap of clicking unsubscribe

I cant not renew, my heart isn't in that. They dont care if i am a member anyway. I was like Mark with the membership badges (i have 3 x 5 year ones). I was one of thousands who chipped in some heard earned at one stage of the Northern Eagles mess to keep the team alive.

If we want to be positive, here is my main thought (stolen from the Canberra Raiders, who have now made 5 of the last 7 final series, only missed last year on for and against). The Storm, Panthers and Roosters also seem to do alright adhering to this too.

Can the whole club get behind the head coach, whether its the current one or the next one? I don't really care if its the current version because I don't think the next one will be any better qualified.

Appoint a coach with the intent to have them run the show for 10 years plus. Club management need to show faith in the process of selecting the right person or remove themselves from that process. I think the current process at Manly, and many other battling sides, is appoint someone well qualified and see how he goes, with the option to sack them if its not working out.

Stability is strength.

Sorry for the long title @globaleagle but I needed the word 'positive' in there because we already have the odd Sack Seibold thread. So ...

I'd like waaay better communication from the club. I realise they can't trumpet signings until they're done but there's plenty of other areas that we're left in the dark.

Tell us about injured players on a regular basis. They used to have a weekly physio report. Why don't we have that anymore?

If Seibold is not to be sacked, at least tell us if this is his final year and what the plan is. Wouldn't expect that with any other coach but then he has said that he doesn't want to ... be a coach.

Treat members with a little more respect. The 'membership team' feels like a bunch of work experience kids. Given that they are most people's only contact with the club, get some grownups in.

Be clear on the website about the Top 30 players. There are currently 34 players listed there. What's that?

Under Coaches, there is just one coach listed. Why?

And rather than The Manly Way marketing tool, why not interview a player, coach, physio each week and tell us about their backgrounds, daily/weeky routine, game day etc. Engage us.

That's it from me off the top of my head. Anyone else got any thoughts?

And please try to stick to the positive. The constant chirping of bottom four, dad's army, Seibold is rubbish etc., gets plenty of air on the rest of the site.

How about a phone call from Brooksy. He doesn't seem like a bad bloke. Despite all the criticism, I respect players when they front up to the fans and try to make a good impression.

Stability? If it wasn't for dodgy chairs we'd still have Twenty as coach!

Get an NRLW team, stat.

We should be leading in these type of areas, not dragging the chain.

There's certainly enough talent on the Northern Beaches for an NRLW team to pop up. There's a ton of Blues Tag teams (not quite rugby league but close to transferable skills) on the Beaches.

Big issue is, currently, our promising junior womens players are being snatched up by the Roosters/other teams. That's not "pointing fingers" or whatever; those involved with pathways and junior footy know this.

No one will coach Manly for 10 years , they just go from one ( expecting instant success) , to the next one thinking instant success and when that doesn’t happen, the next one and so the cycle goes.

And let’s face it , Silvertails mirrors this exactly , there’s zero patience these days.

It’s a bit like this analogy ( although nothing to with football ), in the 2020-22 years the caravan manufacturer I use was like most makers , swamped with orders , and like all , didn’t have the staff levels to meet demand.

The buyers at the time , all in their 30’s , very early 40’s with zero patience , and when they eventually got their caravan, if it had issues ( most did at the time ) they either wanted a full refund yesterday or if it wasn’t fixed within a few days they screamed blue bloody murder from the rooftops.

It’s the instant gratification society , I want it and I want it NOW.

Ditto with league coaches , bring him in , 3 year contract , if he hasn’t made a grand final by the end of year 2 , bingo , discard and let’s go again.

You watch , out will go Seibold and say in will come Ballin , a club hero and instantly there will be a “ fix “ with everyone feeling great.

End of year 1, we’ve gone backwards, but let’s give him time he’s going well.

Half way through year 2 we get the first “ Ballindud “ thread and by years end , sacked with a year to go AND we move on to the next sucker.
