Parramatta stand down star halfback Kieran Foran

BA's attraction with all players in the NRL esp Foran?
We just find it funny that this Arthur spin gets so much attention. The guy has a crap coaching record. It's improving but then there's the little issue of cap cheating......
Choc and Foz went to parra for more $$$$ than they could earn at Manly and they were angry at the club due to the G.Stewart saga. That's the reason why those players went to parra. Arthur's coaching is a convenient story.
The Dalai Arthur himself recently said in an article that he's pretty much forgotten about poor old Choc. I'm sure Choc feels great about that. Choc was the bait and Foz the fish. Pretty slimy but then again you are eels.
Have fun at parra Mr Mentor Chief😛

Just saw a front page splash on the Sydney Morning Herald: 'FORAN OPENS UP ON HIS DEMONS'
This will be interesting, I thought.
Turns out this poor excuse for a paper just reports a text message which said: "I just need some time and privacy to sort through some personal issues. I look forward to getting back to playing footy with my teammates."
So, there were have it. Now, according to this once great newspaper organisation (where, incidentally, I used to work as a journalist), we have the full story via Foran 'opening up' with a text message that told us nothing.
Pathetic journalism and sub-editing.

I guess you'll love the other story where he wrote a touching letter to his team mates who all were so moved they went out to win it for foz against the dogs.

It's all getting a bit over the top, sickening sweet and the cynic in me thinks the coverage is designed to lessen the impact of the penalty for the cheating salary cap s'bags.

---- Also what surprises me is the willingness to make him captain. Anyone who had to put up with his um'ing and ah'ing about re-signing and the tortuous decision it took him ages to make....seemed to me to indicate that that's not the type of character trait you want in a capt.

Ah well...money well spent so far eels.

Does anyone else think this WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED if he had stayed at Manly?

Maybe the relationship breakdown would've still happened but he would've had his mates around him and his usual comfortable environment to help him through it.

We've heard for years how he always seeks out his team mates for advice on just about everything so having Jamie, Matai or Brett to talk to would've helped him get through.

Instead he ended up in the s*it at that slime of a club, a new environment, much more travelling everyday in Sydney's disgusting traffic, a new team to get to know, a mate in choc who ended up getting shafted by the cheats due to cap pressure (and injury), the salary cap mess, and making him captain which meant he then had to comment on all their crap day after day while going through a sad breakup.

And of course they want to keep banging on about the missing money from Manly but most of the media conveniently leave out how the slimey eels haven't come through with their promised 3rd party deals either.

While the media think he's a legend and such a strong character, I think he's just a tough footballer who needs good people around him to help him through things. Contrary to what he was saying about the slimey eels at the start of the year, I just don't think he got the support off them that he needed. Look where he ended up?

I dunno but a lot of these guys still stay friends even when at other clubs. They may now be our 'enemy' but they remain friends with each other.

so I'm sure he still could've spoken with his Manly mates (if he still has them.)

But overall...no as Manly rules and the eels live at the bottom of creeks!

As an aside: why did Foran's ex-partner keep sending photos and woe-is-me type message on social media? These have all been fodder for the media.
Why does this generation think it wise to invite the rest of the world into their private lives and comment on their inner-most thoughts?
This story would probably not have surfaced had it not been for her posts. The club would have just reported Foran re-injuring his hammy and was out of action indefinitely.

I think you have worded that incorrectly. Believe what you actually mean is 'have attempted to buy a premiership'

Miss Kate, unless you have 17/20 home grown stars, all teams attempt to buy a premiership.

Some teams just spend their money wisely.

Agreed. He took on way too much going over there. Everyone warned him against it.

This is a cover up and it will eventually come out. he was admitted to St Vincents 3 times over the legal drinking limit with a mix of prescription drugs, out of character for him. Don't know if the family rumour is true. He had to be stood down, NRL has some several tough decisions to make on the Eels, see if they got the balls.
Any DUI will be public once the court date is published.
Liam Foran's birthday bash this week may be the catalyst for the fall of the Eel's Great White Hope @

'Designed to lessen the impact of the penalty for salary cap breaches'

BINGO!

I am not saying it is all about lessening the impact, but most of it is, surely. I wouldn't put anything past this scum of a club. A bit of 'rope a dope' going on, me thinks...

I very much doubt a new club had any influence on the outcome.

Take your point, but I was also talking legally. Every team needs to buy players.

Some teams even buy them twice.
