I want to leap to the defence of Cathy Freeman. Athletics is a sport contested by every nation on earth, unlike swimming where it is a contest of about 10 nations. We have won only two female godl medals since 1988 and no male gold medals since 1968. You have to be good to win on the track on the Olympic stage!!
