Other Games [Round 22, 2021]

The storm will crack soon. Bellamy will hope they lose one before the finals to take away the empathise off the winning streak.

Well the Raiders will be without CHN next week. Interesting to see a couple of his team mates run him and push him out of the way to check on Hughes. Wasn't a lot of concern for looking after Corey as the Storm piled in on him.

Sutton lost control of that game and he let Canberra get away with blue murder in the ruck - they really frustrated Melbourne. Ironic as it was.

What about when the ref called a knock on against Melbourne, then when they challenged it, he asked the bunker to check a possible escort by Munster?

If Melbourne hadn't have challenged the knock on, does that mean the ref was going to let it go?

Man papenhuyzen looks like a shall of his old self. Looks thin and weak and confidence is clearly shot. Even his goal kicks barely go over. Kind of feel sorry for him as that KO has clearly knocked all the confidence out of him.
I’d be telling the forwards to run at him hard all day or at least the twenty he’s on for.

At one point I said “why did the ref not ref our game like tonight”. I thought Canberra got most all the calls especially in the second half. I also thought Melb were well down on their form. Def a hangover from last week and a short turnaround for them. We will need to watch for that v Eels.

I thought the Raiders challenged Melbourne better than us in terms of physicality but they aren’t a huge threat with the ball.
Their pack is ferocious and really frustrated Melbourne in that second half. It won’t be an easy game again next week.
I thought Melb were well down last night and Canberra got quite a few leg ups. Raiders are a hard one to pick. Sometimes they come out and are dog awful, other nights they really take it to teams. They were however down 20-4 at one point last night. Did well to claw it back. I’m actually more worried about this game than the Eels on sat

The storm have lost high quality of players during the years like smith , slater , cronk ,

But they are still a high quality team because they not only keep performing at a high quality level

Most important they keep performing at a high quality level consistently

Respect to the storm the current NRL Benchmark

I will acknowledge they are consistent, I will never use the word respect in reference to that club.

Didn't Melbourne lose that challenge but were allowed to challenge again later in the match?
It was confusing.
There are simply too many rules in today's sport. How I long for the days when a knock-on was obvious and what I saw was not slowed-down in a video CSI and skewed reality.

SMH says:

Bellamy’s men were far from their best and will also be sweating on the NRL match review committee findings after Cameron Munster was put under the microscope for allegedly lashing out in a tackle.

Why bother he's dodged any suspensions from earlier incidents with a fine.

I know that the Drizzle are raging favorites to take out this years title. Over the last two games both Manly and Canberra have exposed a weakness in their defense down their left side and for the first time the Storm look a little flustered and vulnerable. The fact of both games is Manly and Canberra did not control the ball at crucial stages and the Drizzle got off the hook. The Vermin have a potent left edge attack and I see them getting joy against the Drizzle too.

Time will tell how it all pans out. I think the comp is not done and dusted as many in the Drizzle loving media will tell you!

I think Melbourne would benefit from a loss. They are still good enough to win a scrap but they are doing just enough to get through. They still have some big guns to come back and I don't think splitting Hynes' time on the field for Pap Smear is working.
I'm sure they will be a much better side once the finals start.

It was ruled inconclusive by the bunker, in that there wasn't enough evidence to prove either way if it was or wasn't a knock on, so the ref's decision stood while the Storm kept their captains challenge.

Respecting our opponent is not about liking them or fearing them

Respecting them is all about acknowledging their level of excellence and striving to be better than them .

Didn't even rate a mention.
