Even if it was possible for a team to challenge there, to gift the Cowboys a win on the evidence of that "escort" call would have been laughable if it wasn't so tragic for the Tigers.

That is the only possible way they could have lost that game, and the poor bugger did nothing wrong - didn't change his line, didn't take Feldt out, kept his eyes on the ball and moved towards it. And Feldt was nowhere near the ball anyway. It was a **** kick-off and the only player who was ever going to coach it was Laurie.

And the NRL wonders why nobody trusts the Bunker or referees in general. That's why.

I thought the same because it was Lodge involved but replays showed it was likely Ponga's head bouncing off the ground after falling that concussed him.

It's happened to him earlier this season & I genuinely wonder if it might be self-inflicted in his effort to make the initial high contact look worse than it actually was by dramatically falling/throwing himself to the ground.

Talk about Cowboys getting the absolute bull**** calls go their way. I remember a few weeks ago they got a try from a player 5m offside, called offside by the onfield ref but somehow overruled by the bunker... Chris Butler was the bunker official that day. Today Chris Butler allows the Cowboys to challenge a play without a stoppage, then the bunker rules an escort from a player running towards the ball... They are certainly wanted in the top 4 this year.

Should only be used to confirm tries or goal line drop outs. You have a ref and two officials to officiate and make calls.

Not to step in whenever they feel like it without a pause in the game to influence the result.

Not only that they got that call wrong on top of it.

Well, I guess Payten no longer complains about calls going against $hit teams, now that the NRL have ushered his team into the protected echelon. Funny eh!
