Other Games [Round 1, 2022]

We haven't beaten a team in the top 4 in 18 months (6, now 7 straight losses).
That may be correct but it’s equally correct to say Manly won 2 out of 7 in the last 12 months
Eels were outright 2nd when we beat them in R 11 last year
And 4th when we beat them in R 22
And I’d say 12 months because we didn’t even have a game for the preceding 6 months.
Different ways of looking at the same facts.

We also lost three of the games in the first 4 rounds last year (Easts, Souths, Penrith).

In the last game we played, the commentators specifically stated and were shocked that , as they said, (look at all the hands on hips, and it's only 5 minutes.into the game). This was AFTER we played everyone in the trials, and most of the opposition were playing their first game.
I get your disappointment @Ryan.
No other game so far this weekend has been played with that speed or intensity.
All the pundits have said that Penrith’s performance was unbelievable especially for Rd 1 and lived up to it’s match of the round status.
The Top 4 sides from last year to win in Rd 1 was the Panthers and Storm, in fact both Souffs and the Chooks ( yes they were 5th but were Top 4 all year) were more disappointing than us but playing far inferior teams. I don’t think any of the Top 6 played each other.

Also, looking at our results v Top 4 sides in the past year, we need to take into account that Panthers, Souffs and Storm have been up there consistently for the past few years so they are the yardstick.
They know when to aim up and pretty much brought their best each time when playing us, l can’t recall them playing poorly and us not capitalising on that.

Jayden chickened out in pursuing that loose ball. He should have dived on and covered the ball well before it was kicked.

Eels & Tits: No rolling down the field with multiple sets and hybrid touch footy high scoring... no problem. Just don't play defence.

Russell dropped the ball and dragged it across the line. Cmon video ref do your job. The Campbell tackle is a distraction.
