Other Games [2023]

I
Its been said by a lot better judges than myself ... they were definitely playing better under Mick Potter last year. And I agree.

Right now the Dogs are trying to do what they tried to do just over a decade ago. Back then they tried to buy our premiership winning culture, and now they are trying to buy Penrith's. The main difference being that their team a decade ago was a lot better and coached a lot better.
I'm no fan of Barrett but imo he had the dogs playing a better brand of football than Ciraldo, even the Kennel holds that view, I think Gould has sold himself a lemon

If Tyson Gamble had even half of Josh Schusters talent he would be a very good player.

If Josh Schuster had half of Gamble's work ethic he might be on the way to being worth what he thinks he is.

There is one thing about Barrett's coaching that a lot of people do gloss over or even forget about.

He actually took us to the Finals in 2017. That was when we lost the Qualifying Final to Penrith 10–22 at the old SFS. Penrith's coach then was Anthony "Hook" Griffin.

I've actually been thinking similarly...the most sought-after coach last year, supposedly the be all and end all, Ciraldo hasn't delivered at all this year. Like most other teams, the Dogs have had their share of injuries but they've got their best players back and still can't play well. Have to wonder about Ciraldo's capabilities and you might be right about Gus's lemon.

I'm sure all penriths assistant coaches appear to be great

Has anyone else noticed how far the Eels have fallen since Barrett became their assistant coach this year???

From beaten Grand Finalists in 2022 to quite likely missing the Finals altogether in 2023. And they're going to have to do the rest of the year without far and away their best player (now they'll know how we feel).

Maybe this is the way the NRL are levelling the playing field?

the salary 'cap' isn't working so every team gets Barrett for a couple of seasons.

Bulldogs for mine, they've bought up big with nothing to show for it. Checked out the Kennel lately lol.., it's virtually a lynching mob on there all wanting Gus and CC to leave.

Is it me or are the Bulldogs on a history repeat cycle??

Its late 2011 and the Bulldogs are, for all intents and purposes trying to buy Manly's premiership winning culture. They got Des, they got Crusher and they tried to buy some of our players such as Snake, but really only ended up with T-Rex (plus Hopoate and Foz later on).

And now what are the Bulldogs doing under Gus?? On one hand he claims its all about rebuilding from within ... but on the other he's almost trying to buy Penrith's premiership winning culture buying up their personnel. Burton, Kikau, Ciraldo, Crichton next year. Plus they seem to be headlining anytime anyone decent comes onto the market. Although I can't see them poaching coach Cleary like they did with Des.

History is repeating, only it seems to be backfiring on the Dogs right now.

OMG that bl**dy kennel forum.....some of us get a bit cranky occasionally if we think members are being personally rude but OMG those Kennel ferals ripping into each other, that really is Deliverance Country! Cue banjos now!!

I wish Croker played like Brailey...what a player. And while I'm at it, imagine if Schu played like Trindall at 6... Well played Sharkies over the Cows.
