That 2nd Ashes was such a memorable moment. Loved the full bat out of hell intro early hours of the morning. Just great times.

89 Grand final. Has to be there abouts for the finish.

I'm not sure how time will judge that origin game. The Steelers might have won with a soccer score 2 0 or 4 2 around the 90s and I thought it was a great game at the time. But with time, I'm leaning more towards it being a dog of a game but the close score was great.

Re last nights origin. There was a lot of liberty given to both sides in the ruck. holding down, actually even standing in the ruck, turning the player just about every play. All the slow it down tricks in the book were all fine and dandy. Both teams smashed each other, but with such slow play of the balls and defences set. It really was a Ref approved and sanctioned NRL close contest low score line.

That 2nd Ashes game was just so great. And of course perhaps two of Cliffys most defining moments.
An odd game i remember fondly was illawarra knocking off the bronx, the spaghetti brothers era john simon , riolo, pretty sure the mid week cup semi finals maybe

Complete ambush

But that did not rhyme @BOZO ...

How about this...

The blues really knew how to hit,
On his butt Reece Walsh was made to sit...
Then the referee got mean,
He allowed the blues to play thirteen,
And the maroons ended up looking real sh*t...

See its easy... 🤣

Amazes me that nobody seems to include John Simon in the conversation when they talk about long kickers... Johnny would have destroyed teams if they had the 40/20 in his day...

The Murray sin-bin was an odd one, I can't recall one like that before.
And not that it matters, because it happened, but the rules of the game may suggest a ref has no power over a player not on the field!

*edit:
actually that last point is wrong, they define 'playing area' as the whole ground, not just the field @:)

I can relate completely, @BOZO… born in the Gong, lived more than half my life in Asia, now living in Hong Kong, and family on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts…go figure. 😵‍💫

Another limerick for ya…

There was a buff man and his memes,
Not a hair on his body to be seen,
A true Manly man,
He posted his spam,
And cried when the blues won game 3.

😉

Back in the day it was lucky we had Matthew Ridge to do the long kicks in play because none of our playmakers of the time, Tooves, Des or Cliffy, had much of a long kicking game at all. I know he did occasionally, but its hard to recall Des even kicking the ball at times. He was one of those halfbacks with practically no kicking game to his arsenal.

I do laugh at all the moaning coming from north of the Tweed since full time.

For many years Queensland lorded over NSW, dominated them physically, mentally and won on the score board.

The deciding game this time, the boot was on the other boot.

NSW were in Queensland's face and the Maroons despised it.

I have never seen DCE so flustered as he was and the master niggler in Luai got under his skin and in his head.

You hear about the complaints about the attention that Rhys Walsh got, well I also saw Mitchell Moses hit late several times and nothing was done about it.

The melee was all about DCE and Luai and then Nanai steams in and escalates it, yet he gets a mere fine for his efforts, DISGRACE!! He should be banned for 2 games as well!

NSW got in Queensland's head for the first time in a long while, the memories of Queensland's domination spurred this NSW team on and the mark was set when Latrell Mitchell bullied them in game 2.

The next series will be very spicy now and it is nice to see how the Queenslander's behave when the boot is on the other foot!!

While I’m in a limerick mode…

There was a blues coach named Madge,
Who accepted the new sheriff’s badge,
He rode into town,
And bashed Billy’s clowns,
Till Queensland crawled into their vag.

Ok, ok, I’ll let myself out. ☺️

Queensland have officially entered sore loser territory with some of the claims they're making about Reece Walsh and Haumole Olakau’atu after NSW's series victory in State of Origin. The Maroons have suffered their first series loss under coach Billy Slater - and it's pretty clear they're not used to it.

Some of the rhetoric being thrown around about how Walsh needs to be protected more and was hit numerous times when he didn't have the ball are nothing short of delusional.

I saw a player rating that gave Moses 8/10 and another article with the headline 'Holy Moses...half stars in Origin decider'. I didn't realise he was playing until he beat a couple of tired defenders when the game was already over.

Another rating gave DCE 5/10 because he lacked creativity. I wonder if this idiot watched how much defence the entire QLD team had to do. I think that might account for their lack of spark with the ball. How do these morons get jobs commenting on a game they don't understand?
I saw those player ratings and was confused because I remember thinking "oh yeah, Moses is playing" half way through the second half. So many of those players ratings seem to be based on simplistic stats: team won, tries 1, give him an 8.

That’s funny I didn’t see much control in the first half which I believe led to the boilover.

Particularly Gordon Tallis. Talk about sour grapes ! Wouldn't have said a word if the roles were reversed and it was 2 Qld players who got suspended. This boofhead is such a hipocrit. Surprised MAG didn't call him out for it on NRL 360 on Thursday night. Paul Kent was better than this dill.
