Open letter to Twent Barrett

I meant the players saying they are backing Barrett . What else are they going to say

He was never asked the question of whether he backed Barrett's decision. He came out and said that of his own accord. If a player was asked directly by the media whether they backed the decision, of course I would expect them to say yes, but that was not the case in this situation.

Turbo was asked whether Hastings would be welcomed back, to which he said that is a hard question to answer and then went on to back Barrett's decision.

Sure but it is still standard puppet player talk backing the coach

As I said mate, AFB could have come out and backed Barrett's decision last week - he didn't. Parker could have come out and back Barrett decision last week - he didn't.

If Trbojevic agrees with the decision (Which seems to be the case given the fact that he didn't come out and say Hastings would be welcomed back), what do you want him to say?

Did you expect any of our players to front the media and be critical of their coach ? I didn't . Never the less our team is in a mess . I wish they could do more talking on the field than off it .
That's the way I see it feathered friend

Uate was from the heart ... the best thing that you can do (the fans) to help is to stay positive ....

And what is the first thing a numbnut does .... bag him ....
That wouldn't have been easy for Uate to say. The NRL and the media talk a lot of **** about depression and player welfare then rubbish a team and individuals into, to quote Mike Tyson, Bolivian!

No player has said anything remotely close to agreeing with the dropping of Hastings thus far until Tom this morning, which is why i think it is significant mate. Let’s hope all this can fade away somewhat after a win on Friday.

Sure mate , I see where your coming from .
We certainly need a win on Friday to help clear all this distraction

As a financial $upporter of the club I want to see players play from the heart .
I am not interested in some soap opera interview heart talk .
Heart talk from players means nothings after last weeks embarrassing thrashing from the winless eels .

Surely as a club in "crisis" a media ban on the players is appropriate. They are simply fanning the flames whatever they say. Penn should tell Gorman you are sole spokesman from now on.

Exactly, Uate has said that reading all the negative press in the paper is hard to explain to family and friends that it’s not all true. The moment players start speaking it gets pulled apart and twisted to suit an agenda. AFB and Parker both said they would welcome Hastings back (support) Tom has said he supports Trent’s decision (seemingly unsupportive). Out of the 2 Tom responded appropriately to the question. Put it back to the coach making the call, that way the media get one answer and they can ask Trent about the decision to drop him. The reason he said “that’s a hard one to answer” is it undermines the coach if he says he would welcome him back (probably wouldn’t care if he is in the team or not) which shows respect for the coach and his decision and puts a united front out to the media.

Direct any questions regarding Hastings being dropped, welcoming him back, poor form linked to Hastings being dropped, to Baz and upper management. That way instead of trying to contain spot fires all over the place you have only one that can be controlled.

To be brutally honest this has become a **** show just for that very reason.

The players should have been instructed by the coach / media manager to only talk about the football.

The standard answer to any other question should just be “ I’ve got no comment on that”!!!

I do wish this would end!! We are talking so much about ourselves as a club, when we should be focusing on working hard to turn this all around. The damage is done, the penalties have been issued, the peace pipe has been smoked, now go out there and do your jobs team!!
