Onitoni Large

Ashton was the starting nine for city u16 side, our very own local boy Cruz Death was off the bench in that side who is also playing up a level.
Interesting that another two locals have had young guys signed in their positions.
O'Donnell(son of dad who leaked and got sacked) played some nine at Reggie's level and captained the Flegg side a few times and Beau Alexander who is the same age as Onitoni and also plays on the left side have had players brought in to compete.
Hey Joe
Can you share your opinions on young Alexander, as I had the feedback he had big potential, but personally not seen much of him....

Played more on the left this year, whether that was to accommodate his halves partner Davies or that is his preferred position I am not sure.
He definitely has potential, more a Luai/Walker than Cleary type, but being so young they have so much time to develop strengths in other areas.
No where near physically ready where Onitoni at the same age is much more physically developed (as you expect an islander kid to be)and a lot closer to NRL ready.

Onitoni Large highlights I found:

A few zaidas muagututia highlights too; looks like a real talent. Clean passes + a big running threat with his size & tricky near the line. (looks like he has put a lot of size on in the City vs Country highlights from this year)

City number 9

Wasn't feeling this at all until I found out he had a Tom Wright worthy youbtube reel. This kid looks amazing. Turbo replacement anyone? If he's only 17 and already that size I can't see him in the halves. Looks a lot like a sualli build.

I'm genuinely interested in understanding why Manly won out here. And does it mean more promising juniors to follow?

Does anyone have insight?

Is it the relationship with recruitment? Junior coaches? A defined pathway into senior footy? The location of the football club?

Clearly the CEO has sorted out the culture of the organisation, and minimised politics at manly.

A couple of factors here.

1. Our recruitment manager originally signed him and his bro at the tigers.

2. The tigers promised him a clear path to 1st grade when he 1st signed with Tim Sheens involved. Since then the tigpies have signed multiple halves blocking Larges path to grade. The change in landscape has altered the plans and his best way to long term security is through Manly.

3. The timing of Brooks & DCEs retirement

Fat Tony!
As long as he doesn't turn out to be more of a Big Pussy…

From his highlights package and the size, as in height he looks like a centre, winger, fullback.
Seems too tall for the half's.

He is a bit taller than Galvin from some photos I have seen, Galvin is 190cn, I did see a reference that has him at 6,5 (195cm).

From a few of his highlights his running style looks one of his biggest attributes, glides along effortlessly, with that speed he will have options on where he plays.

Wouldn't wipe Schuster yet. A lot of factors led to his demise at Manly, some caused by attitude, some by poor management. Bennett is one of the best coaches of the past few decades only surpassed in my opinion by Bellamy. It would not surprise me in the least if Schuster thrives at Souths. Hopefully Large is handled better under Seibold
One worries about Manly's management of players. Our depth is terrible - the worst in the League?? with a laughable reserve grade side. And what about the loss of talent such as with Humphries and the Fainu boys with whom so much time, effort and finance has been squandered??
