Now this might sound very stupid to the tech-heads. However the question is genuine.

I am downloading some (legally purchased/copied music) onto a cheapish MP3 player. It doesn't seem to read music from iTunes (my preferred music storage on both PC and Mac) in Mpeg4 format, which means that I cannot play it on the MP3 player (about half my tunes/songs).

I don't want to convert all my music into WMA format so is there anyway I can change it to MP3 format to make it play (short of forking up big bucks to buy an iPod!)

yes you can. You will need a convertor. so say the extension is Ac3 do a search for ac3 to mp3 convertor and you should be sweet

not if you stick with open source!

I have one on my notebook PC, cant remember what it is called though.

Windows Media player and winamp have them built in as as well

oh also if you go to http://www.download.com and do an advanced search and only choose free license, you get a list of all the free ones
