One for the Tech Heads re MP3 players

First Grader
Now this might sound very stupid to the tech-heads. However the question is genuine.

I am downloading some (legally purchased/copied music) onto a cheapish MP3 player. It doesn't seem to read music from iTunes (my preferred music storage on both PC and Mac) in Mpeg4 format, which means that I cannot play it on the MP3 player (about half my tunes/songs).

I don't want to convert all my music into WMA format so is there anyway I can change it to MP3 format to make it play (short of forking up big bucks to buy an iPod!)

oh also if you go to http://www.download.com and do an advanced search and only choose free license, you get a list of all the free ones
