Ok Harper - last chance

You mean like saying over and over again that Einstein made that comment and expecting people to believe it?
Einstein never said that! :giggle:@:D:rofl:
Some real quotes from my late Great- Great- Great- Grandpa Al

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”
― Albert Einstein

“We all know that light travels faster than sound. That's why certain people appear bright until you hear them speak.”
― Albert Einstein

"Go Manly!"
― Albert Einstein

“Only those who attempt the absurd can achieve the impossible.”
― Albert Einstein

“Did somebody say KFC?.”
― Albert Einstein

From the 'pops family journals.😉

I wouldn’t read too much into Des saying Harper will dust himself off...he was asked about Harper so he’s hardly going to turn around and say “he was terrible and I’ll let you all know now, he will not be picked next week”. Regardless of team selections, he is going to support the player and wish him the best for next week, whether that’s in FG or NSW Cup.

I'll blow several fuses if Soul Glo gets picked again this week.

In the early days I was chuckling at the doggies for letting Harpo go ... he had zip and was the flamboyant Tubbs to Parker's Crockett... but today I am hoping he learns (relearns?) to tackle.

I wonder what has changed? Is it that the opposition has worked him out? His early days he was giving 100% and he is now just drifting (I cant believe this)? In a bit of a funk??

What is required to bring him back to the winners circle?

I feel he and Saab should be instilling fear in the opposition but right now the only way I see Saab scoring is from a corner kick.

So yeh, what can be done? (Apart from just "replace with Koula" as wow that kid impresses the hell outta me)

According to Zorba on BSB this morning, he said he should have be hooked way before halftime, said he rang Des yesterday and told him the same, Des said he didn't want to do that otherwise it would have destroyed his confidence.

I'm sure it didn't improve his confidence leaving him out there !!

It's interesting that a group of guys who play one of the most brutal and gladiatorial sports in the world are often portrayed with the 'brittle confidence'.

So being down in confidence is that maybe an excuse for being out of form, or the excuse Des used, "underdone following Covid" ??

There’s having a rough night and there’s not being up to FG. Unfortunately, there is a pattern forming with Harper that suggests he is out of his depth, as opposed to out of form or in a funk. Even at his very best, he is only going to be serviceable. I just think regular FG is too much for him. He can be a Cup player that plugs an injury hole, but week in week out, he is not a first grade footballer.

I just recalled there was an infamous game v Broncos a few years ago - in which there were howls and irate demands for Parker to be hooked mid-game, and to never play first grade again.
(Which is not to say Harper will reach the greats heights that Parker has gone on to achieve (lol) but he still may be an effective NRL centre.)
Anyway it will be interesting to watch it unfold and see how Des handles a situation like this.

I do remember this game.. he was playing on the wing, day game at suncorp?

So according to Des mathematics 3 tries against a team is less valuable than a player’s confidence……can’t say this couch coach would apply the same math!

Might need to rename this thread 'Harper - last last last chance'!
We'll find out at 4pm.
I've been a fan of Harper but Koula has done enough to get the spot this week. If Koula fails to impress for a couple of weeks and Harper bounces back with meat tray performances in reggies I'm happy for them to keep duelling for the rest of the year.
But from what he's shown - I expect Koula not to give him that chance.

It will more than likely be a copy and paste team anyway wouldn't it? With the actual changes made Thursday if any?

No idea. I guess ther are arguments for both approaches. I'd name the changes up front, spare everyone several more days of ripping Harper!!
