THE NSW Waratahs are returning to the home of the Sea Eagles by playing a trial game against Melbourne Rebels at Lottoland in the new year.
The game on February 15 demonstrates again demonstrates that the northern beaches is a major stronghold of rugby in Australia.
The decision by the Waratahs to come back to the ground follows the success of the trial game they played at Brookvale in February.
More than 5000 fans turned out to watch NSW go down to the Highlanders 50-47 in a game which finished in a thrilling finish.

Fittingly, local hero and Manly Marlins junior was a standout performer playing in his own backyard.
“When we last played at Brookvale it was awesome to see the families come along and the community embracing the team,” said Waratahs coach Daryl Gibson.
“It would be great if we could create that fantastic atmosphere again because I know that the team, and particularly the players from that region, cannot wait to play at Brookvale again.

You know, if they could be convinced to play actual Super Rugby games at Brookie rather than just trial games.....the government might be more inclined to put more money into the ground.
