NSW Cup 2025

To be fair....even the rebuild guru Gus has stated on more than one occasion that results mean nothing in the lower grades and it is all about player development

Now if we are smart enough then that makes sense....if
We are guilty of impatience when it comes to blooding players, it takes a month of Sundays for changes to be made for underperforming players and we lose so many quality juniors due to lack of opportunity.

Penrith and the filth dogs are benefitting from a strong pathways program, they are not only strong in their minor grades, their first teams are very strong. I know Penrith have started slow this season and are off the pace, they are the sort of team that can go on a run and still be a major threat.

Our club tolerates a losing culture especially over the last decade. The only success is our Holden Cup team from 17, nothing major success wise after that win.

Maybe we should go back to gangsta town and Blacktown.
Ha, we even managed to screw that up also. The game has changed and is now dominated by Polynesian and Islander lads. There is no place for nice guys in the modern game. Harry Grant has a bit of p that boy next door look about him. But he is a dirty, stop at nothing to gain an advantage gangsta on the field. NRL is not a rich man's sport. Most of the kids who become rich come from tough areas. When Manly was great our team was full of hardened brutes. Smooth talking nice guy DCE is the exception. Haumole gangsta Olakuatau is more the norm.

Couldn't agree more about Grant, true drizzle player, always in the ref's ear, king of the niggle and seems to get away with lots of rubbish.

I think it is more than when we blood players it is about how we develop them or the lack of it

I’m beginning to think we may not be in a premiership window after all.
It does make me laugh when that was quoted....

For any football fans I think of us similar to a Arsenal in the later Wenger years. Sort of there or there about at times but never really a chance of winning the big title due to a lack of investment (for them it was a stadium etc) but did play some great football.

As painful as it is to see DCE go the way he has and knowing we will be weaker for as long as he is playing I an actually looking forward to something different as what we have, whilst great at times, is never going to be enough to win the big one

Good to see Zaidas named to start his first NSW cup at hooker. At the rate he is developing, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as our 14 in first grade sometime next year. Also interesting to note Lodge is playing his first game of the year, straight into the starting side. Should slot straight into first grade come round 11. Much better than the plodders like Sipley and Waddell currently in there. And Konz in the starting side ahead of guys like Dunford, Sykes etc is interesting too. Only 20ish but it looks like they really rate him. Still eligible for flegg this year but has mainly been playing Cup. Small, solid build. Real work horse who can play lock, hooker or second row. Best suited to the modern day lock forward imo. Currently on a train and trial deal.
