NRL legend’s daughter’s dream crushed after missing out on prestigious job

More important, I hear old Spud is not faring too well these days. Anyone know anything about him. May not be him. Just someone said he had after effects of head injuries suffered over the years.

He is still commentating on NSW Cup and has his own beer going. "Spudd Wiser"

Obviously my source got the wrong guy. Great to hear he's doing OK. A favourite that one, especially with his close on field relationship with Newcastle's Harrigan

I've seen Spudd a few times around my area over the years - once he was guest bartender at Pittwater RSL, downstairs in their old sports bar, one Saturday arvo/evening.

He's got a big personality, like a lot of other league players (I've got a theory that the elite league players were very active (possibly hyperactive) kids (hence big personalities that can tend to come across as loose cannons at times) who managed to channel their energy into sports) but I was a tad concerned when I went to the loo & he was at the urinal muttering to himself for quite a while.

I've noticed the same thing with Geoff Toovey (he was muttering to himself at one of the coin toss stalls, trying to win a bottle of port at a charity trivia night at my kids' old primary school) & Gene Ngamu (played a futsal comp some years ago where he was in one of the opposition teams & when I marked him I could hear him muttering to himself too).

I wonder if that's a symptom of concussion/CTE or if it's just a holdover of their playing days when they probably verbalised their thoughts out loud while on the field (nothing wrong with that, I find myself chatting to myself when doing manual work myself & I don't think I'm crazy lol).

Big Man with a Big Personality
I have not seen Toovey for a few years now . I only see him on 360 tv
Big Heart with a Big Personality
I found them both Humble and Wonderful Manly souls
Both are Manly Premiership Winnings Idols
They played the game tough and mixed it with the toughest
I pray that they keep healthy and lead a good life
