Proposed changes to premium

Hi all,

I wanted to touch base as we have started to explore plans for next year. The revenue for the site has been down significantly and I need to look at ways to increase and improve that for 2026.

One of those proposed changes is in the form of native content advertising. If I go ahead with this it will place native looking adverts into the forum think the ads that you see at the end of news articles for instance, you can see them on the women’s weekly site if you scroll to the bottom of the article.

If I go down this route I will need to exclude these from being removed by premium membership as we will be required contractually for 2 years to feed all out traffic through them.

I’m looking at what options I have available but really just looking at making the site available to stay alive for as long as possible with the lowest impact.

I welcome your thoughts and feedback on this.

Daniel

Hi Dan, thank you for the amazing work over so many years to provide the site.
Personally I would rather pay an increased fee than have advertising, but totally understand that may not be the majority view.
This has the potential to uplift revenue to $1200 month, the uplift in fees to make that ground up would be too high

Would doubling premium membership, and introducing a subscription fee for all members (paid quarterly in advance) make up the difference? Perhaps change the name of the premium membership to something else related to site sponsorship, and initiate a few different sponsorship tiers?

Would prefer no ads and pay premium. Would be ok with ads if they don’t impact the site performance and scrolling etc. some sites like Zero Tackle as an example play multiple video ads in an article and basically makes them frustrating to read.

Having said that do what ever is needed commercially viable

If it is just at the bottom of the pages and there are no pop ups etc I think thats something we can live with to keep the site going.
Yep, I could live with that, however, if the ads became too many and/or too annoying, I would continue to keep paying my Annual Premium Member Subscription to help with the running and maintenance of the website, but I would just turn my Ad Blocker back on.

Happy to pay a higher fee for premium but understand if you need to incorporate the proposed ads as long as at least for premium members there are no ads that pop up while you are posting.

If you can anchor the ads at the bottom I could live with that but was also happy to pay more but this appears to be too much a lift in $$ as you suggest.
