Northern Super Stadium

Mercedes Benz field where the superbowl was held this year must be the the greatest stadium for football ever built.

It was bloody expensive but what a stadium. Things like the 360 degreeTV screen above the pitch just makes the show even more special.

While I realise there isn't the support in Australia for such a glitzy stadium it just shows you what can be done. WOW.

OUR Manly is last on the NRL club membership ladder
Not a pretty good look at all feathered friend .

There are a lot of factors that make that a fact mate.

Brookvale oval's ****ty state of disrepair, while a great atmosphere when rocking doesn't help.
Transport and links to Brookvale are ****e.
The dire state our club has been in for the past 3 years.
Lets be honest about where the club resides. It's not called Gods country for nothing. Theres so much more to do out that way then say parramatta or belmore. What are those people going to do (and I use that word lightly) if not go and support their local team? Theres nothing else to do.....

I think management should try something left feild with membership drive. Why not cut membership by 40 or 50%? I really feel that numbers would go thru the roof and we could realistically double out membership base and then add some. People like a deal.

What's bizarre in the US and their hysteria about the creep of socialism, is that nearly all multi billionaire owned NFL Teams play out of taxpayer funded stadiums

I think they have a dual football club/leagues club membership going. I don’t think they’re on their own with that ‘initiative’.

If it weren’t for our particular ownership model, our numbers would be far more impressive with FC and LC numbers thrown in.

Really not. The misses is gagging for it and I just cant go 4 times a day anymore. 2 or possibly 3 at a push so I use the' i need to do some invoicing' technique to fit in some Silvertails time.

What you say is all true Bozo, however the Parramatta area probably has a catchment population of well in excess of one million, whereas the Northern Beaches has probably only 300,000, was hoping we would get an increase from North Shore residents, however a lot just haven't gotten over the Northern Eagles debacle and the Bears are making certain that the rage is maintained.

There are clubs like Souths , the Roosters , Sharks that have less population areas than us but have higher cub membership fan numbers

As far as the The Northern eagles excuse goes ......

Souths were completely booted out of the comp and their fans responded in style when they came back with the most club memberships in the NRL

Have to disagree @BOZO. For all your passion, heart and EXCESSIVE USE OF CAPITAL LETTERS you just dismiss cold hard fact.
Possible supporter numbers are there in black and white. Souths and the Rosters are foundation clubs. They will always have a deeper base which has been forged through generations of families, denser population grid and money.

After that it's all about success. Given our lack of success over the last 4 years its expected that our numbers be down. If we start winning the numbers will rise again.

So @BOZO, what about his other points?
Do you just dismiss them because you disagree?
They are valid points in the discussion as to the disparity in membership numbers.

Another thing to consider is what you actually want or expect from being a member and what you actually get.
I'm a member but don't want a reserved seat ( my spot on the Brookie hill is better than anything else) but some want the surety and social status of having "their" seats in the covered grandstand near the coffee bar and powder rooms ( or whatever else is in there).

I don't need to be a member to sit on the hill, I choose to be but I don't crave a pat on the back because I am one.

Everyone has a different reason and perspective for being or not being a member.
As long as we have a team to support that has a go, then the turnstiles will click over and that really is the bottom line.

You still need to fix the public transport problem. It doesn't matter how good or big the stadium is - if it means spending hours in traffic to get somewhere to then struggle getting a park or worse spending that time on a crowded bus, then many will still prefer to watch on TV.
