Non-Manly Games [Round 21, 2019]

As covered earlier.
1. The 'Obstruction' rule has made RL a joke. No-one will be laughing if it costs a team in a finals match though. Just waiting for Annesley to apologise to the Cows for getting this wrong. But it's going to take a howler in a finals match to get the NRL to revert to the original intent of the rule: a defender who has a chance to tackle the ball carrier has to be impeded for it to be ruled an obstruction.
2. McGuire is not only the dirtiest player we've had in RL for the last decade, he must surely be the dumbest. What he is doing seriously risks the livelihood of a fellow player. It is criminal, and he continues to do it. This grub should be rubbed out for 12 months.

I just had a look at that and wow.

How the bunker announces these decisions without laughing, sounding guilty, or embarrassed is a thing of beauty.
Its affected Manly on numerous occasions like the Siro no try against Manly.

Use to be if a decoy player ran through and took out a defender, which was fine, now its a farce.

You could throw a cut out to a winger, who steps inside and beats two defenders, then off loads to a support player who carries another two over the line, yet they will go all the way back to the pass from the hooker and have a look at whether the player has caught the ball on the outside of a defender who in reality never had any involvement or even a remote chance to stop the try. Its ridiculous

I think it was said in 9 last night and its quite true. The object of an obstruction is that a defending player actually has to be obstructed. Unfortunately the way they are ruling inside / outside shoulder has taken the actual obstruction part OUT of the obstruction rules. Players are being ruled to have been obstructed when they are metres away from the play and are less than zero chance of stopping a try.

Take the tries we were robbed of against the Worms and Melbourne. The players who were "obstructed" were 5 metres away from the player with the ball (both times I think it was DCE) and by the time he passed the ball on, even Usain Bolt at his peak couldn't have got to him in time, let alone ANY NRL player

It’s a debacle as it stands!

Geez , who made the decison at Fox to have Anthony Griffin commentating ?
We were all taking the piiss out of him at the start, with his 12 schooner drawl. But as the game wore on, and you got over his voice, he was making some really insightful and knowledgeable comments. You could tell he was getting right into it as he started feeling comfortable in his role. Unlike other coaches they have had on who give you nothing more than standard cliche speak, he was calling what plays needed to happen five minutes before they actually did, and he was spot on. Plus his obvious Panthers connection, he was able to give a good run down on the history of the three Panthers debutants.
Get past the voice, and you may be surprised. I was.

The way this weekend is going I’ll be about 1/8 in the footy tipping.

Funny, I did better when I had to pick three weeks in advance!!

Wow that was a great catch by Brian Kelly close to his ankles and then he was good enough to swing around 180 and put his winger in to score
