I'm not so sure. He suggested that hand on the ball and holding down should not be policed because they are trivial compared to aligning oneself when playing the ball. If you think about it, he is suggesting we move the game towards a Storm like control of the ruck slowing things down.

His line tonight was that refs blow too many penalties, and that they focus on trivial insignificant stuff (like hand on the ball in the ruck and holding down too long), but then ignore more obvious stuff like not facing straight to play the ball.

While there is arguably something to the gist of what he's saying in terms of missing the bleeding obvious and picking up the less significant, I thought his examples were a bit off. Personally, I don't like anybody encouraging wrestling to slow down the ruck (ala Storm-style). That said, i do tend to agree that the play-the-ball needs to be cleaned up big time

The big point that I agreed with was when he said to get rid of the pocket referee. Go back to one referee like they still have in test football. I personally can't see why its good enough for tests yet in other representative and club games here in Australia (I can't speak for SL) we have two blind mice instead of one.

And while we're at it.....what is it with touch judges these days? They seemingly do nothing anymore other than call whether a player is into touch, and even then they get it wrong sometimes.

One thing spoiling today's RL is the play-the-ball. The defender should be made to stand on the spot and not touch the man playing the ball, who must take a step backwards and play the ball properly - thus you not would have the hands on the ball, nor interference, which means no penalties for that offence.
