No premiership since 2011? That's on DCE.

Honestly the reason we have not won a comp since 2011 is so much more than DCE (as the sheri post puts it)

Ultimately since Max left the club in 2010 Millionaire Max Delmege quits NRL club Manly after saving the Sea Eagles from financial ruin I belive we have been on a downward path with the results showing an erosion of what was a strong team / club
Manly has been an absolute sh*tshow since Max left… we may have won a couple of early premierships but a strong player roster in those early years just papered over widening cracks…

We have spent more time on the front page then the back page…

…the timing of which now looks very interesting… was Tom aware of the situation with Chez at that time? Did he realise it was looking more and more likely that Chez had one foot out the door because the club could not get to a suitable number? Was that a last-gasp effort by Tom to keep the “premiership window” open?

Bloody honourable if it was…

Possibly that, but i reckon more to do with all the time he has spent off the field. Still honourable.

Seems we have selective memories. Yes we last won a premiership in 2011, but easy to forget that the Sea Eagles should have won the 2014 premiership but for some questionable ref decisions. Note on that day DCE won the Rothman's Medal, one of the very rare occasions a player on the losing side of a GF won it.

I look at some Manly past greats. Toovey (0ne premiership), Cliff Lyons (one premiership), Menzies (two premierships, Turbo (no premierships). Are they at fault for not getting more premierships. Of course not. Its all dependent upon the team around you. The acknowledged best wing man of all time in Australia played thirteen years at Norths without a premiership. Had to come to Manly to win two at the end of his career. Its meaningless to suggest somehow DCE is at fault for Manly not winning since 2011. Ask how any spoons he helped Manly avoid in the past decade innstead with the pedestrian lot we had.

As for the issue concerning DCE leaving Manly, two points I should make. Firstly its always unwise to assume based on limited nformation, as to what is happening behind the scenes. Many are blaming the club, many blaming DCE but I wonder how many really know what is happening. Secondly, what's the big issue for goodness sake if he does grab a pot of gold from another club at the end of his career. Its hardly rare. Fulton left Manly for a pot of gold with Easts in 1975, Vautin did the same in 1990, we lauded Brannigan, Moses, O'Neill, Brown, Dorahy, Boyd, Kennedy, Roberts etc etc for taking the big dollar and leaving their home club. Menzies, from what I understand, was very near leaving Manly for Parramatta in his later years, something Watmough later did. So f..ing what if DCE is looking for a final descent payout and a swan song at a different club. Say DCE and its suddenly betrayal. Say anyone else and its good luck to them. Go figure.

Clive Churchill, but I get your point. Who really wanted to see another two years of what we have seen. A flat track bully who has admittedly had no props for seven years kick the occasional field goal when there's nothing really on the line, or a half that would have had the sense to kick it five minutes earlier.

Cherry was the best half Manly had for a long time, but not paying a 37 year old a million plus, that's just good management.

He isn't 'team' enough to have won Manly a premiership in the past fifteen years, he is a a great player and competitor.

But I can't wait to see him tackle Olokuatu down that edge he hasn't been able to lock down defensively since Sironen left.

Yep..you read correctly

Very coincidental but the more I see of DCE and how he's gone about his latest contract fiasco the more it takes me back to his Titans backfill and how destabilising it was for the club then.

Basically DCE plays for DCE and its never been about a team for him.. he won a premiership off the back of players who played for the team and each other, many of who took pay cuts to stay together as they were winners. They bled for each other and took the wins and losses together.

DCE has led our great club.. but a team is only as good as it's leader and we are now seeing that DCE never really had the team or the club at heart..it has and was always about DCE.

Even in his twilight were he could have left the game a one club legend, set to go down in history he chose himself and his greed to forever tarnish his legacy.

We havnt won a premiership since he made it "his team" and sadly we are now seeing why. As one of his staunchest supporters I too was decieved.
Yeah, man, I was always a big supporter of Chez and to be honest most people have thought that he was a wanker.
So I feel you when you say you feel deceived, me too mate.
All of a sudden everyone thinks he’s fantastic, all these other clubs, I don’t get it.
Where was praise for him all those years where he did nothing much for us?
They really think he’s gonna be that special?
I’m not sure…

Here I go like a broken record but I have been saying for many yrs that Dce won’t win us another premiership lol

Here I go like a broken record. Bob Fulton wouldn't win us another premiership with the team we had. Only the team we have now looks to be in any way a challenger, but if they win it will be a team effort jus as it was in the 70s

I noticed that DCE’s form significantly improved when we signed Brooks ( who in some ways just by his presence) has freed up DCE’s game. At one point Brooks was also a $1million a season half. DCE also has Tom who plays just like another half when entering the attack. In essence we have 3x $1million half’s. Slot another player in place of DCE into our current team with.Brooks and Tom and their game will also likely significantly improve.

Foz could never do what DCE does.

What marvels did Foz do at the Eels, Dogs and Warriors. In fact he was invited to leave each time. Granted injuries interfered. He performed OK when he returned to Manly but then he had DCE and the best of Schuster to support him. Hardly done much at the Titans. Good player but not in the same league at DCE

We have been searching for consistency for 13yrs now..3 coaches many different players and we still can’t find it…in my opinion the 1 person who has been consistent in making us inconsistent is penn and while he allows average players coaches and staff into the club nothing will change

Umm that’s exactly what I’ve been saying for 12 yrs we won’t win another premiership with dce and penn is the blame for keeping him when he should of went to the titans
