Veteran Leeds centre Keith Senior insists the Super League champions will let their rugby do the talking in Sunday's Carnegie World Club Challenge at Elland Road.

Letting the ball do the talking: Keith Senior is relishing the battle with Manly

Grant Mayor, chief executive of opponents Manly Sea Eagles, caused a furore when he claimed many Australians view Super League as a 'second-tier' competition, despite English clubs' domination of the annual clash of the champions.

The Rhinos are aiming to become the first club to successfully defend their world crown while at the same time extending the winning sequence of Super League teams to six - and Senior is hoping that will silence the knockers.

Whilst defending Mayer's situation, this was not a sensible thing to say in the lead up to the game, though either side hardly needs the motivation to play well.

Probably inferior overall; but the better superleague teams would be a consistent match for the weaker nrl teams; australian coaches, techniques and players have brought nrl-learnt standards and attitudes over here. More recently topline players have come over.

Could be an interesting little side bit in this game

In 2006, NZ v GB Matai towelled up Senior in a scrap, and they haven't played since. Senior made noises early last year about if he got another chance he would hammer Matai, and Matai replied with something along the lines of him being too old
