Would be a good signing

I hadn't heard of him until the 2007 NZ tour of England, they picked him as an 18 year old, and he dominated a reasonable kiwis pack, put on some good hits and was a strong runner

Beaver would have some input into this I am sure

yep utube Sam Burgess and click on the hit he made on Moi Moi.

massive hit, Choc would be proud of that one!

yeah so he did a shoulder charge (sort of), really need to know if can do more,

Apparently that makes you a good player or makes your season. T Williams and JWH have been getting wraps and allowances for putting on a shoulder charge. Seems a rich currency for Sea Eagles and members of this site

I am not commenting his skill based on one shoulder charge, but it was a good shoulder charge nontheless.

Even squasher put on a shoulder charge once

Squad No: 8

DOB: 14/12/1988

Height: 6ft 5in

Weight: 110kg

Position: Prop

Voted ‘Best Teenager in the World’, Sam has had a tremendous three years at the Bulls and is already an International.  His rise has been meteoric and he is an automatic choice for the Bulls, either at Prop or in the Back Row.  His strong running and fierce tackling are well known and he is already being talked about as one of the best players in the game.  He made his Gt. Britain debut against the Kiwis in 2007 and played for England against France last season before an injury meant him undergoing a shoulder reconstruction which ruled him out of the Centenary World Cup.

Sam's late father, Mark Burgess was also a professional Rugby League player with Nottingham City, Rochdale, Dewsbury and Hunslet. His brother Luke Burgess plays for the Rhinos and younger twin brothers Thomas and George are both professionals with the Bulls.

He made his debut against Leeds in 2006 and after a highly successful debut season with the Bulls, Sam was awarded the Senior Academy Player of the Year Award by the club. In 2007 Sam established himself as a first team regular and such was his progress he was called up for the Great Britain Train on Squad for the 2007 Test Series with New Zealand, and was named as Young Player of the Year in Super League. Sam also played in the centenary match between the All Golds and Northern Union when he was awarded the Man of the Match.

He made his Great Britain debut against New Zealand in the First Test in October 2007, scoring a try and represented England against France in 2008 before succumbing to the injury that was to keep him out of the England World Cup Squad.

Damn straight. The kid is a gun. Pace of Centre. Size of a prop. Ball handling skills of a backrower. Approved.

Sometimes UK games are on before the Sunday Night game. If Bradford play, check him out lads.

Forget the shoulder charge. Burgess is the real deal.

Missed last year's World Cup with a shoulder injury, but England were filthy. He would've been in their starting line-up as a 19 year old forward. That's a pretty solid effort. Two of the people I've spoken to about him are Adrian Morley and Gareth Ellis. Both rate him as the best young forward in the game. It's a fair rap.

Its pretty poor that we

1. Can't develop the talent here in Australia and need to even look O/S
2. Can't keep that type of talent in Australia.

Well if it helps to win another premiership why not !!!

I dont know mate, its not like there are hundreds of english players in the NRL, if the kid is talented enough and he has a goal of playing in the NRL, then he has ever right and should get a go, local or not

If anyone has last weeks RLW, or is near a shop, there is actually an article about this in there, and Menzies talks him up in a big way

he looks to have alot of potential. would need nrl conditioning and you never know how people will stand up to being targeted in gameplans at the top level. but he has speed, power, ball playing ability and size.
