News: NRL not ceding to FFA

Both the AFL and NRL are against this as it would raise the profile of soccer in Australia to never before seen heights, something that would be in competition with them.

But in terms of tourism and therfore income for Australia this would be a huge get.

I don't think the AFL nor the NRL are responsible for the tourism dollars that may or may not come with any soccer games.  They are responsible for placing their respective codes at the top of the sports ladder here.  Raising the profile of soccer is just plain stupid for these competing codes.  The cost, if one can believe all the hype, is 400M for a stadium at Cambotown and 150 M to get the thing at Homebush up to scratch without the additional costs of any other arena.  Costs that won't be recouped.  Taxpayers should be telling Lowy where to go.
